A Special Tribute of Thanks

It was way back in 1984, a day that I’ll never forget. I better not, it was my wedding day! It was a beautiful day. I’m thankful for that blessed day because in a lot of ways it changed my life for the better. We were surrounded by family, friends and loved ones who helped make that day as special as it was. But there was a couple who attended our wedding who were very much involved in more than just our wedding. They were, and still is to this very writing the reason why my wife and I are involved in helping other couples overcome addictive behaviors and strongholds that have crippled many couples today. And this article is dedicated to their wisdom, their honesty and faith in us, as well as their committed friendship and leadership in pouring into our lives. They are truly the definition of what friends, mentors and Christian family epitomizes. And this is for you.

Some time ago, we were introduced to one another. Your brother, and the best man at our wedding, made the introduction, and it was almost like we connected right from the start. We attended the same church, and pretty much grew up together in the church in southern California. A relationship was developed and it’s still intact at this very moment. You helped organize our wedding plans with your guidance and wisdom. You were there for us and we really appreciated it.
Several years after being married, my struggles with addictive behaviors became exposed and we all know what kind of turmoil that caused. My issues became so serious that we didn’t know where to turn for help or guidance. But you were there.
After I received some much-needed assistance from several ministry partners, we needed some couple ministering. We received pastoral counseling, but we needed more hands-on mentoring in understanding what we were going through as a Christian couple. You two were there.
You helped us understand what those challenges were what we needed to do as a couple to allow God to restore wholeness into our marriage. You spent hours pouring into us Godly wisdom and counsel that enabled us to see what God has in store for us. We became a part of the Marriage Ministry at our former church under your leadership. That position, and your guidance, showed and poured into us what was needed to begin that process: servanthood. You guided us into understanding people, which in turn helped us to understand one another as husband and wife. Your prayers and intercession from years ago have been answered through the fruits that we are currently displaying by continuing to serve others. You spoke back then that this would be a ministry that God would glorify Himself through our obedience to Him. You never wavered in your diligence to see what you believed God for in us. You prayed for our children that they would not to be affected by my past behaviors, and that they would grow to be Godly, virtuous young women. They have, and are still serving the Holy One to this day! They are being used of God mightily in ways we could have never imagined. We thank you for your encouragement. You both took us by the hand and shared with us “what thus saith the Lord.” And if we wanted change and success in Him, we believed that through God, His Holy Spirit, your hands-on guidance and wisdom as He moved through you both, we knew this was being in alignment with His word, and we had to follow our hearts.

Now, many years later, we have been truly blessed as facilitators of Wives’ Redeemed Hearts and Men of Redemption recovery ministries. We believe, by the grace of God, that he has chosen us to be light and salt of the earth, to men and women who have struggle with the same issues that we have, to help guide them to freedom as He has blessed us to have. Our lives have become living sacrificial examples unto the Lord for His purposes and intent, to help bring restoration and hope to hurting men, women and couples alike. We have been blessed with total 100 percent backing with our church as well as the support of surrounding churches in our area. You both helped plant this seed blessing because you saw this in us back then when we could not. Lives, marriages and homes are being influenced because of your diligence to stay with us through it all. We could not have seen this happen back then but you did. We had no idea the impact what these two ministries would make, those being affected and changed, but you two did. You constantly prayed for us to be completely healed and restored. We continue to seek God’s healing in every area of our lives. Blessings, favor, surrounded by God’s presence in all we do is our life today. God has allowed us to become recognized as pastors in our church and denomination. We have become Marriage Mentors in our church in helping couples become stronger together than being apart. God has shown His favor on both our jobs with increased provision and opportunity for upward promotional advancement. Jesus!! His love abounds in our lives. And we believe, that none of this would have come to past had we not, as a couple, made the decision to partner with you both, and fell under your leadership and guidance through God’s Holy Spirit in you. You planted that seed back then. And now, we in turn, desire to do the same for other couples and give back to what we have been blessed to receive. Your influence, your patience, your love and diligence in believing this would happen, as well as you combined faith in Jesus Christ and us, is the reason we have experienced God’s blessings in our lives.
So, we thank you both, from within our hearts and spirits, for all that you both have poured into us. If it had not been for your caring and love for God for us, we don’t know where we would be. We love you both, and we will always think of you every time we sit down and share with couples, because that’s what you did with us. May the blessing of God’s favor rest upon you and yours always!
We love you both so much!

Day 24 – “I’m thankful for . . .

Posted by Men of Redemption on November 24, 2011

“I’m thankful for family being able to come together and giving thanks for blessing, and the grace that God has bestowed upon us. Blessed with good health, strength and ability in our bodies, waking up in our right minds, is no doubt something we are eternally grateful for. Gathering in a common location to fellowship and enjoy one another’s company in the atmosphere of peace and love is a joy to behold. But acknowledging our Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ, and what He did for us to make any of this a reality is the reason we give thanks. He has made it all possible, and He is the reason there is a Thanksgiving Day. Have a great and blessed Thanksgiving everyone!”

“I’m thankful for God’s righteous hands of mercy over my life. He loves me despite my faults, my iniquities, my transgressions, and still holds His hands out to me to show me how much He cares. God’s grace is sufficient for me and always will be. I’m thankful, and blessed to have a loving, caring Savior in and over my life. Truly thankful!”

Day 22 – I’m thankful for . . .

Posted by Men of Redemption on November 22, 2011

“I’m thankful for all of God’s creation that He has given us to enjoy in this life. He made all that we see for our enjoyment, our fellowship together with Him and one another. He created this life for the sole purpose to glorify His Holy Name, the Name of Jesus Christ. The details of what we see could never have been authenticated or created with the minds of this world. It is His glory and preeminence that we should exalt as well as His Name. Thank You Lord God for divine mercy, grace and goodness. You created me. I am carefully and wonderfully made by You. I give glory to You O God. Thank You my Heavenly Father.”

Thank you, Men of Redemption

VOLUME 11 ARTICLE 61 Nov. 2011

I Thank You, Men of Redemption

A vision was birthed several years ago after God had healed me of addictive behaviors that infiltrated my life, my marriage and my family. God renewed my mind and transformed my life into what it is today: a life with purpose and meaning that is directed by His Holy Spirit. My thinking is much clearer. My mind and heart is filled with joy and peace because He reigns in and over my life in every area. God has allowed me to experience true freedom in Him, and there is now no condemnation to those who love the Lord. He placed in my heart a desire, a passion for helping men escape the same strongholds and bondages that controlled me. It’s been in and on my heart since 2001 when I attended the Every Man’s Battle Conference. I had that freedom operating in my life and I wanted the same freedom for other men who have these struggles also.
After being a part of a support group early on, I noticed that the men were not receiving the healing, the practical tools needed to be successful in their recovery efforts. I was concerned. I petitioned God, “Lord, these men need more of You God. Help them. Use me, if all possible, to guide them unto your everlasting freedom that You have given me.”God heard my cry. There was no immediate answer from Him. So I just continued to pray and wait for His reply.
In the meantime, I continued to work on maintaining my new-found freedom with consistency and diligence as best I could.
Several years had passed, but the vision never left my heart. I spoke with my Overseer at the time about it, and it was discussed but never became a reality, maybe because of timing or maybe the church wasn’t prepared for such a ministry of its kind. Then a family concern came upon us. It required us to relocate out-of-state. I quit my job and we left. I didn’t want to leave but I had to understand that it wasn’t about me. This was a huge transition for us but we trusted God. At the same time, the vision was still in my heart.
A couple of years had passed, and the vision began to come alive in me. I sought out spiritual guidance and leadership from my present church and shared the vision. I submitted myself under that leadership and patiently waited with him for the right opportunity. Months had passed, and finally, it happened. The vision was birthed into reality. On April 7, 2009 our Men’s Recovery group began, and God began to move.

Today, that group is known as the “Men of Redemption” and we are ever so grateful to God for His faithfulness. He has orchestrated a group of men that took a chance with a guy whom they never met or heard of, listened to his testimony, and placed the little faith they had left in seeking out help for their problems, in this group’s purpose and vision. I realized this and I trusted God that He would do for them what He did for me. And to God be the glory, He has done exactly that! He has transformed men’s’ lives and marriages, and has removed the scales from the eyes of men who couldn’t see opportunity. He has brought wisdom and understanding to the hurt and confused. He has brought healing and peace to men of our group, and still, continues to open hearts and draw them closer to Him. Families are being reunited and revived by His Spirit. Men are being transformed and restored to spiritual purity; relationships with God the Father are being ignited by recommitment and desire to be obedient to God’s Word. Marriages are full of Godly love and passion where there was none. I knew God was going to do some miraculous healings but never did I think He was going to do what He’s doing now. I am so thankful for each and man who is a part of Men of Redemption! They gave me an opportunity to share my life, my failures and my successes, to give them insight into how they can reach the point of freedom as I did. They trusted me to a certain degree, but they depended on God to move by His Spirit to reveal to them truth by this group. I valued, and still value, their trust and commitment to go after the healings and freedom that He has blessed me with. You have blessed me with your patience to hear and listen to my testimony, my experiences as well as observing my life before you. God has blessed this ministry in a profound way where we are meeting the needs of every man who walks through our doors. It’s because of God’s grace operating your lives, and your commitment to actively continue to go after freedom without fail. Sure, there are a few men who still struggle with their issues, but they have never given up. They are persevering and remaining diligent in their efforts.
I thank you Men of Redemption, each and every one of you. You have grasped our purpose and vision, and applied the principles, the tangible tools that are available to you and are experiencing life in a better light. For that I am truly thankful for you for believing in me by trusting God in me. I believe you guys know my heart, and my desire to see each of you transformed and living in purity with holy purpose for your marriages and families. I just want to say thank you my brothers for believing me; for trusting me with your precious time on Monday nights; for allowing me to pour into your lives with His Word and wisdom; for all the good times and fellowship; for listening to all of my bad jokes. I know some Monday nights you really felt challenged, even felt like giving up because of what was and is required of you. But you never gave up on the group or me. You continued to show up despite the mental and emotional opposition. You persevered. For that, I am grateful and thankful to you for staying the course. I have never given up on you, and I never will. Be strong, and stay diligent in the things of God. There is so much He has for all of you. I desire for all of you to be healed and delivered, enjoying life as God intended for you to do in your families and marriages. As long as God gives me life, I will do everything I can He enables me to do to help guide you in the direction you are seeking toward receiving victory in every area of your life. I love you guys, my brothers, Men of Redemption!

Day 21 – I’m thankful for . . .

Posted by Men of Redemption on November 21, 2011

“I’m thankful that I made the choice of who I am going to follow with my life. I could have remained with my choice to continue in the direction I was going trying to do life my way. But that lead me to all kinds of destructive behaviors. I chose God’s way. Because of that choice, I live in freedom. He guides me unto all truth. He leads me beside the still waters. Thought I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will not fear because God is there. His rod, His staff, they comfort me. And goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life. Thank You Lord God for giving me the opportunity to choose You.”

Day 20 – I’m thankful for . . .

Posted by Men of Redemption on November 20, 2011

“I’m thankful for a praying wife that prays for me everyday; that while I’m away from her she’s interceding on my behalf that I focus on the tasks at hand that are before me; praying that in the midst of temptation I stand up against the wiles and devices of the enemy; praying over me that I make the right decisions regarding our family, our marriage and our future. And I’m thankful that she continues to encourage to seek after God the Father, Jesus Christ, to provide leadership and guidance for and in our home. I’m blessed to have such a woman of God that desires the best God has for me.”

Day 19 – I’m thankful for . . .

Posted by Men of Redemption on November 19, 2011

“I’m thankful that there is a place for women to go and receive support, comfort and understanding for their hurts. A place where it is safe, loving and caring that women come together and pray, seek God’s divine wisdom and guidance through His word, and other women who have, and are gaining daily victory for themselves. I’m thankful that through their coming together that women have learned to understand that the problems of their husband’s behaviors are not their faults. Receiving support spiritually and emotionally has made a huge difference in their marriage and family relationships. I applaud all your efforts in guiding women to know that God loves them. Continue to do as God directs you in helping and assisting hurting women everywhere. To God be the glory!”

Day 18 – I’m thankful for . . .

Posted by Men of Redemption on November 18, 2011

“I’m thankful for victory in my life over the difficulties and obstacles that I face everyday being a man, a father, a husband, a Man of God. Each day as I submit to His will, He gives me strength to overcome, to make the decisions and choices that are right for me and my family. He gives me peace and assurance that I can walk in the fulness of His joy being lead and guided by His Spirit. The victories to overcome temptation, the disciplines of serving others and not thinking of myself. As long as I allow God to reign in and over my life, victory is attainable in all things. I’m thankful.”
