The Word, with Our Morning Coffee

Posted by Men of Redemption on December 31, 2012

Coffee on Christmas morning!
It’s December 31, 2012, the last day of the year. What are you praying for in the coming year 2013? All of us have some things we’d like to see change, some things we’d want to improve on, and certainly some things we don’t want to repeat as we move forward in life. What’s on your list? Everyone’s list will be different, and some might have similarities from every dimension. But most importantly, is a deeper walk and relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on the top of that list? Every year we ought to have focus, as well as place more emphasis on growing and maturing in the things of God. I pray that each of you desire, diligently, courageously will seek God with fervency and passion in the year 2013. May His favor and abundance rest with you and yours throughout the coming year, and years to come. Have a safe and peaceful New Years Eve, and give all the glory to The One whom it all belongs to, The Lord Jesus Christ!

The Word, with Our Morning Coffee

Coffee on Christmas morning!
“And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end: That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.”
– Hebrews 6:11, 12

Procrastination is one of the resistances we human beings go through every day. We tend to put things off until another day, a day that we really aren’t assured of because we don’t know if tomorrow is afforded to us, only God does. But as people of God, we ought to be diligent in all matters, not putting off for tomorrow what we can do today. If we have hope that God will provide for us, that He will complete in us the tasks before us, then why should we even entertain the thought? Maybe being lazy has a bit to do with it, if we’re honest with ourselves. If we look at what’s before us, recognizing the importance and impact that whatever we set out to do will have on ourselves as well as others, and not to mention that Christ could return at any given moment, wouldn’t we want to finish or complete it? God wants us to not be slothful in our lives and press toward the glorious hope that is within us. Look at those who laid the foundation of perseverance for us to follow. They knew what they were after and did not want to stop or procrastinate in getting there. How about you? Will you fight through the laziness that keeps us from receiving what God intentionally provides for us? Let’s make a commitment today and be encouraged, be strengthen in the power of His might, and put procrastination out of our lives. Go forth in power, victory and authority, in the Name of Jesus Christ! Have a wonderful and blessed Friday my friends!

The Word, with Our Morning Coffee

Coffee on Christmas morning!
“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.”
– Matthew 7:13, 14

Following the patterns of the world can lead anyone down a road that inevitably they will regret because of the choices they make. That road is wide, agreeable, and conforming because it’s what everyone is doing. As children of God, we have chosen the road that leads to salvation in Christ. This road to Christ is narrow, meaning that this road will require something of us: faith, living as God directs, putting Christ frist in our lives in everything. It takes more than just intellectually knowing God, and that’s not enough. We need a relationship with our heavenly Father, spending time with Him daily. Head knowledge never got anybody into heaven. We can spend all our lives hearing the Word of God, but if we are not living what we hear or read, not applying His Word to our lives, or have not established relationship with the true living God, Jesus Christ, we are only deceiving ourselves. The greatest mistake in life will be knowing we did all the things we thought we were doing for God, then find out when we get to heaven that He never knew us. Our works were in vain. Ask yourself today, “Am I really applying God’s Word to my life?” Those of you who are, Hallelujah, praise God, and continue therein. Those who desire to improve in that area, I’m praying that you do my friends. Have a blessed day in all you do today, in Jesus’ Name.

Coffee on Christmas morning!
“Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands! Serve the Lord with gladness; Come before His presence with singing. Know that the Lord, He is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture. Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name. For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting, And His truth endures to all generations.”
– Psalm 100:1-5
To all people that inhabit this world, may the grace, mercy, peace and love of the Father in Heaven, the Lord Jesus Christ, watch over you and yours always. Have a blessed Christmas Day everyone!

The Word, with Our Morning Coffee
“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” – Romans 8:28

It’s Christmas Eve! We’re in preparation to celebrate the joys of our risen Savior Jesus Christ, and the wonders of His love. No matter what you’re doing today or tomorrow, remember that all we do will work for the good for God’s purpose in our lives. Whether it’s taking time out to reflect; sharing with others how good God has been to you; or thinking how we can be more Christ-like in our walk with Him, God will work it out so that He will bring glory to Himself through our faith in Him. We are His chosen people with a purpose, and we will work together with that common purpose to draw others to His love and salvation. Rejoice people of God, brothers and sisters in Christ, for He is worthy to do exceedingly and abundantly far more than we could ever ask or think. Glorify the Lord with what you do today, and every day, in Jesus’ Name!

The Word, with Our Morning Coffee

The Word, with Our Morning Coffee
“Wealth gained by dishonesty will be diminished, But he who gathers by labor will increase.” – Proverbs 13:11

We all have goals in life, and we try to reach them with proper planning and determination. There are those who will attempt to do anything, and whatever it takes to achieve success in every area of their lives. Obtaining wealth, whether it’s success, notoriety, fame, or prestiege, when hidden motives are involved, dishonesty is surely to follow. We want the benefits of success but sometimes we are willing to do just about anything to get it. When we go out and put the work in that’s needed, the rewards become more enjoyable because of the efforts of our diligence to gain it. It’s more satisfying, as well as rewarding, when we work for the things we desire. God gives us ability, understanding and hope to achieve what He has for us, and that usually takes some effort on our part. He desires that in us. Let God direct our purpose in achieving the things that He wants us to have, not the desires of self that will be exposed for they what they really are: temporary and short-lived. Let our wealth be things eternal, and God will bring the increase.

“He must increase, but I must decrease.” – John 3:30

The Word, with Our Morning Coffee

The Word, with Our Morning Coffee
“Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.”
– John 15:4, 5

Do we ever wonder why we do the things we do? Or why we think the way we think? It all has a lot to do with what’s in our hearts and what we’re connected to. Abiding in Christ means living and being connected to Him, in the way we live our lives, the way we think, and relationally devoted to Him. When we are apart from Him, life just seems to be so incomplete, with trouble and chaos all around us. If we want, and truly desire to be fruitful in this life, we need to be connected to source that will produce the kind of fruit that God desires in us, and that’s righteousness. Abiding in Christ brings peace, joy, comfort, not only to us but to those in our sphere if influence, and that includes our relationships, jobs, our homes, as well as our families. If we are not connected to Christ, we are like a flickering light that gives clear indication that we are neither on or off, being shorted, losing power, and not displaying the purpose of its true intent. What are you connected to? Are you abiding in Christ? It’s not too late to start. If you are, continue therein, and pray for those who need strength to begin abiding in The One who gives life, and that more abundantly. Have a great day friends, in Jesus’ Name!

The Word, with Our Morning Coffee

The Word, with Our Morning Coffee
“But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.”
– 1 Timothy 6:6-8

As children of God, we know that God will guide us unto all truth and understanding. He has blessed us with life, strength and ability to accomplish His desires in us. But sometimes we tend to want more in life because others are being blessed or favored more than others. We look at what God is doing in their lives and perceive that we’re in the same family of God, so why aren’t we being blessed as they are. Well, this passage tells us that we ought to be content in what God has given us. If we use the strength, ability and life that He gave us for His glory, in turn, as He sees we are being good stewards of those gifts He will bring the increase as He deems necessary. When we came into this life we had nothing. We see that when we die, we’re certainly not taking anything with us. But what we can take with us is knowing that were content, satisfied with what God had given us to use for His glory to bring hope and understanding to others. Let’s be thankful for the little things we do have that we have taken for granted most of our lives. Build and use those gifts, talents, to bring light and life to others. This contentment also involves having a good, positive attitude as well. Have a great, blessed and contentful day, in Jesus’ Name!

The Word, with Our Morning Coffee

The Word, with Our Morning Coffee
“If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
– 2 Chronicles 7:14

Three things that Our heavenly Father, Jesus Christ desires of us: (1), Humbling ourselves, one of the hardest things for God’s people to do. We become so busy in the activities of life that we get caught up. All the performance, the acknowledgement and the praise of winning sets in our hearts, minds, and we forget who has given us the ability to do what we do. (2), Pray. Many of us as children of God don’t have a consistent prayer life. We oftentimes go to God in prayer when it’s convenient, when we need something or when trouble arises and we can’t resolve it ourselves. Why can’t we go to God when we recognize our lack at the beginning, depending on Him always before the trouble starts. (3), Seek His Face. Going after God, wanting and yearning to know our heavenly Father should be our greatest desire. Knowing our Creator, His heart, His promises for our lives, and establishing intimate relationship with Him ought to be the ultimate passion of every Christian. Take some time today, look at your desires and passions, and ask yourself “Are these three things realistic in my life?” If we’re honest, we’ll answer ourselves and say “I can always do better in all three.” Have a truly blessed day friends!
