“I’m Sick and Tired of Being Sick and Tired”

Posted by Men of Redemption on June 30, 2014

Sick I remember not too long ago when I was going through my seasons of confusion and addictive behaviors, I began to hate what I was doing. I knew what I was doing was wrong but still continued therein. My behavior wasn’t helping anybody but myself, and that help was self-serving to say the least. I remember people saying to me . . . “Is that all you think about is yourself?” I didn’t care. I wouldn’t listen to the voices of reason because I thought I knew what was best for me. But deep within myself I had admitted “I can’t keep doing what I’m doing. I hate these desires of lust and immoral behavior. I’m sick and tired of it!” The battle within me raged on for years. I was in denial and didn’t want to face the reality of it because basically, I really didn’t know how to. There was a sense of fear of those around me knowing what I was doing would not accept me for who I really was. I believed there were people like me, those that only cared about themselves and no one else.

So I continued in isolation and kept on doing what I was doing. Then the behavior increased, and the stakes became even more dangerous. I didn’t want to go down that road because having my eyes open to just seeing where the end would take me was frightening. I came to a crisis of truth and said to myself “I’m tired of this mess. I’m sick of this! I’ve got to stop living like this before I end up in jail or dead. I’m so sick of this!” My erratic behavior affected my marriage and family life for all the wrong reasons. Change was needed and needed fast. This was when I realized something had to change. I got face-down on my knees and asked God to help me. After taking a step of faith and trusting God, and the full participation of a strong supportive wife and daughters coming along side of me, we were able to move in the direction of totally being set free. It was difficult, but if I was really sick and tired of my “mess” I would be willing to do whatever it took to reach that goal of being free from the strongholds of this life. I committed myself to moving forward in that direction. The rest, my friends, is a testimony of victory, fulfillment of joy and peace.

During that season of struggles I never really “enjoyed” what I was doing. It was all a façade to give the appearance of being successful. Deep inside my heart I always wanted to do what was right, but when I wasn’t having the success I truly desired, I remained in denial of my true feelings and ambitions. It was years before anyone ever knew my heart and what I was really about. But I was sick and tired of that life and made a conscious decision to get the help I needed because I wanted it for me, and then for my marriage and family. With the help of my wife, the strong encourager that she is, we came together and sought out the help and support that was needed. We found it, and I began to apply it to my life.
I joined a support group that really influenced my life with truth, and that truth was in the Word of God. And one of the books that helped me understand what I was going through was Psalm. In Psalm 51:1-3 it showed me that . . .

“Have mercy upon me, O God, according to Your loving kindness; according to the multitude of Your tender mercies, blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. For I acknowledge my transgressions, and my sin is always before me.”

The sin of my behavior and the denial of that sin were reigning in my life more than God was. My iniquity and transgressions were more prevalent during that time. I had to stop where I was in life, confess, accept responsibility for my sin, and ask God for His forgiveness. That’s when my life began to change and proceed in the right direction because now, my steps were being ordered of the Lord (Psalm 37:23).

Change

Every man who has dealt with these and other traumatic symptoms rooted in sin will eventually get to the point where he is sick and tired of being sick and tired. If you haven’t reached that point yet, you will, trust me! And as long as you remain in denial, believing you can handle it, that you have it all under control, you’re only deceiving yourself my friend. I learned that in God’s Word . . .

“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.”(Ephesians 6:12)

In gaining understanding of this verse, this is a spiritual battle that you, me, or anyone else can’t win on our on. We need the divine intervention of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! He is the only answer to these and other problems that influence our lives that depend on worldly living. If we continue to live our lives based on what everyone else is telling us, no matter how intelligent they may appear, we are only being deceived. As men of God who have serious problems, we need to come back to our first love, Jesus Christ. Stop being sick and tired of being sick and tired, and make a conscious decision to do something about it! Step out of that denial stage in your life and seek help immediately. Further delays will only deepen you struggles to depths you won’t be able to escape out of.
If you are struggling, desperate, and desire help, but denial has you ensnared, contact me and Men of Redemption would love to help, guide and walk along side you in this journey of recovery. You can reach us at http://www.menofredemption040709@hotmail.com.

Power Punch with Proverbs

Power Punch PROVERBS 3:13-18

“Happy is the man who finds wisdom, and the man who gains understanding; For her proceeds are better than the profits of silver, and her gain than fine gold. She is more precious than rubies, and all the things you may desire cannot compare with her. Length of days is in her right hand, in her left hand riches and honor. Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her, and happy are all who retain her.”

When we seek wisdom with our whole heart, we gain the understanding that compares to none. God’s divine blessing of discernment and understanding will lead us through this life with righteousness leading and following us. All of us want to live as long as we can, and seeking the wisdom of God will sustain us with comfort and joy. The world’s wisdom will only take you as far as the world will go, but God’s wisdom? Hummm. Think about it. Why limit yourself in all you’re doing when God desires you and me to move forward beyond the expectations of this life? The blessings of the world and all it has to offer cannot compare to the riches and glory in Christ Jesus. His is eternal and everlasting!

The Word in the morning Glorify God in Body and Spirit

“All things are lawful for me, but all things are not helpful. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any. Foods for the stomach and the stomach for foods, but God will destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. And God both raised up the Lord and will also raise us up by His power. Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a harlot? Certainly not! Or do you not know that he who is joined to a harlot is one body with her? For “the two,” He says, “shall become one flesh.” But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him. Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.” 1 Corinthians 6:12-20

Power Punch Proverbs 3:11, 12

“My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord, nor detest His correction; for whom the Lord loves He corrects, just as a father the son in whom he delights.”

Don’t get mad at the Lord when you are exposed or corrected for something you did that was not in alignment with His will. We tend to want to blame God because we had a door closed in our life; when opportunity was shut down when we were looking forward to it; or just when God just simply says no or not right now. There is a reason for everything He does on our behalf. He loves us so much that He will do whatever it takes to get our attention, even if it means denying us what we want because He may see that you might want that more than we want Him. WOW!! If you gave your children everything they wanted sooner or later you the parent will not be needed any more, and that love will go to that desire. GOD FORBID!! All the Lord to delight in you by recognizing that He has our best interest at heart always, no matter what we expect or how disappointed we may get. He loves us that much!

Breakfast of Champions DO NOT WORRY

“Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? “So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”

Power PunchPROVERBS 3:9, 10

“Honor the Lord with your possessions, and with the first fruits of all your increase; so your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will overflow with new wine.”

As the Lord provides and blesses us with opportunity, relationship, prosperity, may we always give Him thanks, praise and glory for all that He is doing in our lives. A lot of us have things that if not for God’s blessing we would not have them. The very first time or moment that we know we have received from God through someone or something, we ought to bless Him with an offering of thanks and appreciation through giving, through service to others and through acknowledging His presence in our lives. When the “rains” come, we all want to be fully prepared to get through that season of discontentment, struggle, unhappiness or whatever it may be. We desire His provision but if we’re not thankful for what He has done and is doing, we may never get that opportunity, that relationship or that prosperity that His Word promises us. Start honoring and glorifying the Lord for who He is and what He has done in your life.

Breakfast of ChampionsTHE MODEL PRAYER

“And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly. And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words. “Therefore do not be like them. For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him. In this manner, therefore, pray:

Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
As we forgive our debtors.
And do not lead us into temptation,
But deliver us from the evil one.
For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”

Breakfast of ChampionsLOVE YOUR ENEMIES

“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? And if you greet your brethren only, what do you do more than others? Do not even the tax collectors do so? Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.” – Matthew 5:43-48

Power Punch Proverbs 3:7, 8

“Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and depart from evil. It will be health to your flesh, and strength to your bones.”

We all know what happens when we begin to depend on our own wisdom and understanding we received from the world because it always ended with the same worldly results. We need to stop flirting and messing around with evil with all of its disguises because we know what it looks like if we are walking in the Spirit. And by walking in the Spirit of God, we have the gift of discernment, knowing what is good and what is evil. I don’t know about you but I want the joy of the Lord in and over my life. I want to blessed with good health and strength that comes only from the Lord. I don’t know everything but I know who does and I choose Him over everybody and everything any day! Do you fear the Lord? Fearing the Lord brings that peace that passes all understanding.

Breakfast of Champions
“Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled. Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I say to you, that unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.” – Matthew 5:17-20
