What Are You Preparing To Do For 2015?

Posted by Men of Redemption on December 31, 2014

Yep! Here we go again.  lists

It’s that time of the year where we take some time, sit down and reflect on the year just past, the things we did and things we didn’t do. We measure how successful we were in accomplishing the things we did from the list we made this time a year ago for this year. Funny how that cycle just keeps going, and we continue to realize, even being in denial, that we never really accomplish all that we set out to do. I would think if we all sat down and gathered all the lists, the resolutions and goals we all have conjured together we would’ve wrote our own book. I guess its something that we traditionally occupy ourselves with to find something to do to begin or start something new.

Staying within the context of new beginnings, what if, for the sake of this year’s coming of 2015, we asked ourselves “God, what is it that You would like to see new in my life for 2015? What  do You suggest I set my goals and new beginnings on so that I can lift up Your Holy Name?” WOW! That would be a first for many of us after all the years we’ve been accumulating these sorts of lists. Sure, it’s a different twist on our perspectives, but do we really consider what God has planned for us before we start to try to figure out what we want or need to do for ourselves or others? I want to help, as well as encourage some of our readers regarding this gesture because we’ll find that if we begin to trust in the Creator of all life for our lives we’ll gain an understanding of what our purpose and goal ought to be for successful living. First, let’s look at what the Word of God has to say about our future.

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.”  –  JEREMIAH 29:11

Regardless of what we may think or believe about the changes we’d like to make, Go already has a plan and a future designed for us, and, it’s a future to succeed in everything we do. When we hear a statement like that automatically some of us feel like “Oh-oh, what do we have to do. God just doesn’t give futures of success away for nothing!” Well, I must tell you: He does! Your future and your success is determined by the effort and desire you want to put into it. You see, God wants all of His children to prosper in all things; life, family, on your job, relationships, etc.. He knows us better than we know ourselves! The good thing about God’s plan for us is that its unconditional love. He doesn’t ask us to give our first-born; He doesn’t require us to read the Bible 24-7; and He certainly doesn’t require us to go to church seven days a week to show our obedience. When we think about doing something different for the new year, consider what plans our heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, has for us. How do we find out those plans and what are they? Glad you asked. We simply go to His Word. His Word is very clear and full of detail so that we all will understand what He wants for us and wants to do through us.

So when you start making that New Years list of resolutions for the coming year, take a few moments and ask God that simple question. A lot of times if we are in tune with hearing from God we’ll recognize His voice and He’ll whisper it to us. Other times, He may use those He has chosen to bring revelation to us. Do something different for this new year: Ask God to tell you what He wants for you to do, or change, or even re-discover so that you will become what He desires and not what we want or see. Remember, His thoughts are much higher than our thoughts. If you have any doubts as to what God desires, why not start at the beginning with the first true and real list of all time . . . .

His Word For Me Today . . . .

King has his queen's back“Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body. Therefore, just as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything. Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish. So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself. For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church. For we are members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones. “For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.”This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church. Nevertheless let each one of you in particular so love his own wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.”  –  EPHESIANS 5:22-33

Okay husbands: Do you love your wives as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her? Many of us husbands have to ask that question to ourselves. Yes, in most cases we husbands will say we do. But what our wives are looking for is action! Does it show in the marriage relationship? Do our wives have that unconditional security, knowing that whatever happens in life, she knows beyond a shadow of a doubt that you have her back? No matter what troubles come your way in marriage; arguments, discouragement, doubts, whatever; do we still show our wives that through it all we will always and continue to show the unconditional love of Christ at all time no matter what it looks like? If you see that you don’t, it’s not too late to start that process my brothers. It can happen if you want it!

God knows you

“O Lord, You have searched me and known me. You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off. You comprehend my path and my lying down, And are acquainted with all my ways. For there is not a word on my tongue, But behold, O Lord, You know it altogether. You have hedged me behind and before, And laid Your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; It is high, I cannot attain it. Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend into heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there. If I take the wings of the morning, And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, Even there Your hand shall lead me, And Your right hand shall hold me. f I say, “Surely the darkness shall fall on me,” Even the night shall be light about me; Indeed, the darkness shall not hide from You, But the night shines as the day; The darkness and the light are both alike to You. For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well. My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, The days fashioned for me, When as yet there were none of them. How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand; When I awake, I am still with You. Oh, that You would slay the wicked, O God! Depart from me, therefore, you bloodthirsty men. For they speak against You wickedly; Your enemies take Your name in vain. Do I not hate them, O Lord, who hate You? And do I not loathe those who rise up against You? I hate them with perfect hatred; I count them my enemies. Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties; And see if there is any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting.”   –  PSALM 139:1-24

This chapter in Psalm speaks the power and knowledge about who God is and His sovereign authority over life itself. There is nothing that our Lord and Savior doesn’t know. He is wisdom. He is knowledge. He is Almighty God with infinite wisdom, power and authority! Who can comprehend Him? No one. So as we approach 2015, let’s keep in perspective children of God, my brothers and sisters in Christ, that God knows everything there is to know about everything. Trust Him, and know that He is Lord.

words“Who can understand his errors? Cleanse me from secret faults. Keep back Your servant also from presumptuous sins; Let them not have dominion over me. Then I shall be blameless, And I shall be innocent of great transgression. Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer.”  –  PSALM 19:12-14

The New Year 2015 is upon our doorsteps, and if we’re blessed to see it, consider some things we should look at about ourselves when it comes to communicating with others. What we say and do are critical to our witness of who Jesus Christ is to us. The things our lives portray give a clear indication what holds our focus, our desires as well as our hearts. Let’s take a good look at ourselves, examine our motives and ask God to create a pure and clean heart within us so that we may declare, proclaim and decree the saving grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ with true, honest intention.

Trusting In God Through It All

Posted by Men of Redemption on December 26, 2014

trusting God

THE SAFETY OF THE FAITHFUL

Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness!
You have relieved me in my distress;
Have mercy on me, and hear my prayer.

How long, O you sons of men,
Will you turn my glory to shame?
How long will you love worthlessness
And seek falsehood? Selah
But know that the Lord has set apart for Himself him who is godly;
The Lord will hear when I call to Him.

Be angry, and do not sin.
Meditate within your heart on your bed, and be still. Selah
Offer the sacrifices of righteousness,
And put your trust in the Lord.

There are many who say,
“Who will show us any good?”
Lord, lift up the light of Your countenance upon us.
You have put gladness in my heart,
More than in the season that their grain and wine increased.
I will both lie down in peace, and sleep;
For You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.

PSALM 4:1-8

JesusHIS COMING REIGN OF JESUS FOREVER

“Nevertheless the gloom will not be upon her who is distressed, As when at first He lightly esteemed The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, And afterward more heavily oppressed her, By the way of the sea, beyond the Jordan, In Galilee of the Gentiles. The people who walked in darkness Have seen a great light; Those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death, Upon them a light has shined. You have multiplied the nation And increased its joy; They rejoice before You According to the joy of harvest, As men rejoice when they divide the spoil. For You have broken the yoke of his burden And the staff of his shoulder, The rod of his oppressor, As in the day of Midian. For every warrior’s sandal from the noisy battle, And garments rolled in blood, Will be used for burning and fuel of fire. For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace There will be no end, Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, To order it and establish it with judgment and justice From that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.”   –  ISAIAH 9:1-7

We have something great and wonderful to look forward to at any time now. Our Lord and Savior’s coming reign in the earth forever. His kingdom will finally be established without sin. There will be everlasting peace, and the glory of His countenance will be our light. Justice and righteousness and holiness will prevail always in His reign. Glory to God for He is The Lord our God, Jesus Christ!

WISE MENCELEBRATING THE GOOD NEWS

“Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, saying, “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him.” When Herod the king heard this, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him. And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he inquired of them where the Christ was to be born. So they said to him, “In Bethlehem of Judea, for thus it is written by the prophet: ‘But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, Are not the least among the rulers of Judah; For out of you shall come a Ruler Who will shepherd My people Israel.’Then Herod, when he had secretly called the wise men, determined from them what time the star appeared.  And he sent them to Bethlehem and said, “Go and search carefully for the young Child, and when you have found Him, bring back word to me, that I may come and worship Him also.” When they heard the king, they departed; and behold, the star which they had seen in the East went before them, till it came and stood over where the young Child was. When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceedingly great joy. And when they had come into the house, they saw the young Child with Mary His mother, and fell down and worshiped Him. And when they had opened their treasures, they presented gifts to Him: gold, frankincense, and myrrh.”   –   MATTHEW 2:1-11

The birth of Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world has come. Enough said.

JosephBEARING THE GOOD NEWS OF HOPE

“Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit. Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not wanting to make her a public example, was minded to put her away secretly. But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.” So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying:  “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.” Then Joseph, being aroused from sleep, did as the angel of the Lord commanded him and took to him his wife, and did not know her till she had brought forth her firstborn Son. And he called His name Jesus.   –  MATTHEW 1:18-25

How are you at handling good news? Do you hear it first, try to decipher its legitimacy and then proceed to share or reveal it? What if you’re one of those individuals like Joseph who had a difficult time understanding how something could be without his involvement, worry about what others may say or think, but you knew you had to take heed to that instruction? Sometimes we may have to bring the news of encouragement, hope or even rebuke whether we want to or not. It’s not for our understanding but for the edifying and revelation of truth to those whom it is intended for. Just like in Joseph’s case, we’ll see the results in due time my friends!

JESUS CAME WITH A PURPOSE
