Struggling With Unbelief: Trust In The Lord, PT. 2

Posted by Men of Redemption on January 29, 2015

unbeliefIn Part 1 of this article we looked at a reason why there is unbelief in our lives and it brought some interesting comments and reactions from our readers, mostly all positive. At large, many people and most of our readers agree that trust has a substantial influence and overview of what we perceive in life as being real, confident and influential. In part 2, we want to look at another reason for unbelief in our lives today: A Lack of Faith.

Everyone who has read in the Bible the story about Thomas, the disciple also known as Didymus, and how he wouldn’t believe that Christ was alive and that he needed to see Christ for himself in order to believe the truth.

“Now Thomas, one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came. So the other disciples told him, “We have seen doubting thomas
the Lord!”
But he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.” A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.” Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!”
Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”  –  JOHN 20:24-29

Not only did Christ inform all of His disciples that He would return unto them, but He said this would happen before He died and told them to prepare for His arrival. But as we have learned, Thomas had a lack of faith, not trusting in the Lord God, Jesus Christ after seeing miracle after miracle, obviously still not convince of whom Christ really was. And that’s much like a lot of us today. Our lack of faith tends to cause doubt about what is real, what is true in life. We need to see physical presence of something in order to place our faith in it. But if that were the case, faith would be obsolete, and there would be no need for a savior. But the Word of God tells us different . . .

“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”  – HEBREWS 11:6

Every day we are faced with the improbability of certainty, why the constant waiting and hoping for reality when it’s right before our eyes. But everything isn’t always what it seems to some. I realize that as a child of God, I pray for God’s best in everything I say, see, hear and do. I can’t see the very best always but I have faith and believe that God will reveal it to me in His time, not mine. So patience is an additive of peace, waiting and trusting that it will come to past. But because we live in a society where everything is I can’t wait; I need it yesterday and I don’t have time to wait or place my faith in waiting for the inevitable. We truly show a lack of faith in everything we do. Whose fault is it? It’s not a matter of whose fault it is, it’s a matter and point of who are you trusting in and why. As children of God, we understand that faith is key in everything we do. Our heavenly Father, Jesus, desires us to trust, to believe in Him to carry out all that we ask of him in His Name. If we’re not trusting and having faith in Christ, who are we or what are we trusting and believing in? We all are placing our faith in trusting something or someone. Is it ourselves? Is it a certain person or machinery? Or is it the intelligence of someone we know whom we place our faith in that appears in the know about everything? What happens when we’re disappointed by that someone or something? All of these questions are relevant and the answers aren’t too difficult to comprehend. Just look at the results. God’s Word says . . . .

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”  –  HEBREWS 11:1

So when I say that a lack of faith is probable cause for unbelief, I pray that you see where we tend to bypass God and lean to our own understanding. Do we need to see the end results of something before we put our faith in something or someone? Not really if you are a child of the King of kings and Lord of lords. Jesus has never failed me and has shown up in circumstances and situations in my life time and time again. I have never been disappointed in my Savior’s diligence in granting the blessings of faithful living according to His riches and glory. You, too, can experience God’s goodness and grace if you place your faith and trust in Him. Stop traveling through life hoping and believing in something or someone you think is or might be the answer to your search for success or progress, and place your faith, or the lack thereof, in Jesus Christ, and I promise He’ll never let you down, and He will never leave you nor forsake you. He’s always been there for me, and He will always be there for you, IF, you trust and believe in Him.

His Word For Me Today Through My . . . .

Posted by Men of Redemption on January 29, 2015

devotionsMADE ALIVE IN CHRIST

“As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath. But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.  –  EPHESIANS 2:1-10
