“When the man is at home, his standing in society is well-known and quietly taken; but when he is abroad, it is problematical, and is dependent on the success of his manners.”

Ralph Waldo Emerson, (1883-1882); American Transcendentalist philosopher, essayist, poet and writer.

DevotionalDOERS-NOT JUST HEARERS

“Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does. If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one’s religion is useless. Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.”  –  JAMES 1:21-27

THE WAY OF WISDOMDevotional

“Wisdom has built her house, She has hewn out her seven pillars; She has slaughtered her meat, She has mixed her wine, She has also furnished her table. She has sent out her maidens, She cries out from the highest places of the city, “Whoever is simple, let him turn in here!”As for him who lacks understanding, she says to him, “Come, eat of my bread And drink of the wine I have mixed. Forsake foolishness and live, And go in the way of understanding. “He who corrects a scoffer gets shame for himself, And he who rebukes a wicked man only harms himself. Do not correct a scoffer, lest he hate you; Rebuke a wise man, and he will love you. Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be still wiser; Teach a just man, and he will increase in learning. “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. For by me your days will be multiplied, And years of life will be added to you. If you are wise, you are wise for yourself, And if you scoff, you will bear it alone.”   –   PROVERBS 9:1-12

“If God sees that my spiritual life will be furthered by giving the things for which I ask, then He will give them, but that is not the end of prayer. The end of prayer is that I come to know God Himself.”

GOD’S RIGHTEOUS JUDGMENT Devotional

“Therefore you are inexcusable, O man, whoever you are who judge, for in whatever you judge another you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things. But we know that the judgment of God is according to truth against those who practice such things. And do you think this, O man, you who judge those practicing such things, and doing the same, that you will escape the judgment of God? Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance? But in accordance with your hardness and your impenitent heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God, who “will render to each one according to his deeds”:eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory, honor, and immortality; but to those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness—indignation and wrath,  tribulation and anguish, on every soul of man who does evil, of the Jew first and also of the Greek; but glory, honor, and peace to everyone who works what is good, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For there is no partiality with God. For as many as have sinned without law will also perish without law, and as many as have sinned in the law will be judged by the law (for not the hearers of the law are just in the sight of God, but the doers of the law will be justified; for when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do the things in the law, these, although not having the law, are a law to themselves, who show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and between themselves their thoughts accusing or else excusing them) in the day when God will judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ, according to my gospel.”  –  ROMANS  2:1-16

Words of Understanding . . . .

“Reproaches from those who have been intimate with us, and trusted by us, cut us to
the quick; and they are usually so well acquainted with our peculiar weaknesses that
they know how to touch us where we are most sensitive, and to speak so as to do us
most damage.”

My Question Is . . . .

Posted by Men of Redemption on July 28, 2015

my question

My Question Is . . . .

“When does trust return in a marriage that’s been violated by infidelity and mental abuse?

This is a tough question because there are so many parameters involve, along with a process of healing and transformation.

One of the most destructive acts of violated trust in a marriage is Betrayal. Once you betray your spouse, you literally have destroyed his/her full belief and confidence in you. That specific act penetrates the heart in such a way that the mere sight of that person draws the essence of evil as it truly is. But, if the inflicting spouse is genuinely repentive, acknowledges his/her behavior, and starts the process of confession and healing, there is always a possibility that trust can return to the relationship. This decision though involves some extremely committed efforts from the one who committed the betrayal. This process includes a high level of accountability, preferably men/women-whichever the case may be-that are God-fearing, Holy Spirit-filled servants of God that will hold him/her accountable to ever single moment of their life. It will also include many Christian Counseling sessions that should involve character examination and generational influences, which will expose the traps that put him/her in this position. And with the spouse who has been betrayed, he/she seeks to help in understanding and emotional support from the same. Consistency over a long period of time will display the fruits of obedience to this process. It’s not a guarantee, but if one is truly, wholeheartedly committed to the process, where transformation has taken root within the very depths of his/her soul, trust can return and be better than before. Please keep in mind-any wavering or indecision during the process will eventually deteriorate all efforts made then and in the future. Great question my friend!

DevotionalTHE VALUE OF A TRUE FRIEND

“Two are better than one, Because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls, For he has no one to help him up. Again, if two lie down together, they will keep warm; But how can one be warm alone? Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him. And a threefold cord is not quickly broken.”   –   ECCLESIASTES 4:9-12
