A Writer’s Thoughts on . . . .

Being Real. mask

Over the years I’ve learned about transparency, letting others see me clearly for who I am and not what I want them to see. In a world that’s so dead-set on portraying ourselves that we are more than what is shown, fabrication seems to be at the front door of many people’s lives. I, for one, am no stranger to that perception, as I am responsible for portraying an image that I had it all together but really didn’t. But underneath all of that pretentious masquerading, I too, displayed a false sense of who I really was. But you know, I thank God for His divine redemptive love that I don’t have to live that way anymore. He showed me that fear was behind that mask of deception. Fear had caused me to suppress my feelings, my hurts and wounds because I believed no one would understand my pain. And it’s so easy to hide behind something that’s better and more attractive than what I had. God has shown me who I am and who’s I am, and that’s all that matters to me these days. I continue to learn daily about what God wants for me and His intentions for my life for that day. He continues to strengthen me daily to live out who I am, being real in all experiences, that others will know who I am and who’s I am. I belong to Him, He created me for His purpose and to glorify Him. He did not create me to lie, to deceive, to give a false impression of my identity so that I may succeed in life. I’ve got to be real in all that I do, whether I’m successful or not. I’m not living for the affirmation and acceptance from the world because it’s all temporary; one minute they’re lifting you up the next they’re burying you with the dead. I live my life being real and transparent. I look unto God, Jesus Christ, for my acceptance and affirmation because He is real and transparent, always, and forever will be. Just a writer’s humble thoughts.

“looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”   –   HEBREWS 12:2

An Encouraging Quote

Posted by Men of Redemption on September 4, 2015

ralph

“What is success? To laugh often and much; To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; To appreciate beauty; To find the best in others; To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived; That is to have succeeded.”

Ralph Waldo Emerson, on success.
