Tip of the Week: Seek Out A Mentor

Sometimes we can be so over-saturated with recovery emphasis that we’re overwhelmed trying to retain all the information we gather or try to apply to our lives. It often leads us to feel like we’re taking on too much too soon. That’s why it’s to our advantage, those of us who doing recovery, to seek out a Mentor, someone who we trust, someone who has wisdom and understanding into the things of God, to help us in application and understanding of what we’re doing.

A Mentor would look at what we’re doing, offer sound and foundational advice that would be conducive to our recovery efforts. If we had any questions or concerns, they are there with clarity, offering us helpful suggestions that would encourage us to keep moving forward when we feel like we’re stuck with indecision. That Mentor can be someone whom is well-respected, has a relationship with the Lord God, Jesus Christ, and is Spirit-filled ready to give in season and out of season. So pray, ask God for someone who can come along side you and offer you some guidance, as well as correction when we’re wrong.

“You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.”  –   2  TIMOTHY  2:1, 2
