My Thoughts on . . . . True Intentions.

What are people’s true intentions? Are they purposeful? Do they have meaning? Or do they have an agenda that will only serve their advantages and deceive us into thinking they are honorable? It’s hard to tell these days with all the hypocrisy and selfishness in the world. I’m not perfect in no way, shape, form, or fashion, and I’ll be the first to admit that. After spending a season of my life living in that deception, I’ve learned quite a bit about being real with my intentions in life, especially in recovery where our intentions have a real purpose.

I find myself concerned with the men I am blessed to work with that whatever they decide to do in their recoveries, they need to be honest and transparent in all their endeavors when it pertains to doing the right thing. If we have protocol to follow, let’s stay within the confines of that protocol and do as we are instructed in order to obtain the prize we are passionately seeking-walking in freedom from years of disobedient behaviors. We should want to live our lives with true intentions instead of fabrication or living in a world of selfishness that we allowed the enemy to design for us. It’s not about us or what we can get out of life-it’s about being honest, open, and living for truth in everything we set out to do. When I see a brother struggling in his ways, it isn’t always the mistakes he’s making. It could be that whatever it is he’s attempting to do is somehow failing him, and he wants to correct that immediately because he doesn’t want to be found out about what he really wants to do. That’s disturbing to me! How can I really trust that brother if he has a hidden agenda and no one knows his true intentions? Whatever our intentions, they must be made known to those in his sphere of influence. He will be understood by those who know him and by those he spends his time with. We need to speak and live with purpose, with focus, as we take on life’s challenges and let everything be in the light. We cannot operate successfully in life in the dark and expect the very best to happen for us if our motives, our agendas, or our focus is to do unto others with false pretenses.

Just some thoughts from a brother who is against the lies of hidden agendas, not being real and not having true honest intentions with those we surround ourselves with. Mu purpose in recovery is to help those men who are faced with the strongholds of dishonesty, living the lie, and help them overcome that deception of the enemy of our souls, and guide them unto all truth and understanding through the power of the Holy Spirit and God’s Word as a foundation for true intentional living. Just saying . . . .

“But all things that are exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light.”

–  Ephesians  5:13
