My Thoughts on . . . . The Battle Within Your Recovery.

Where do you think our most fiercest battle is happening in our life today? It’s not with our neighbors. It’s not with the bosses or co-workers that we spend a majority of our work week with. It’s not with the cars who cut in front of us illegally day in and day out. And it’s certainly not with those who we think or believe are our enemies. No, our biggest battle we face daily is with ourselves and what we choose or allow to dominate our thoughts. I hear from time to time how so many men, and women, declare how they are struggling with thoughts, with anger or frustration with life and those attached to it. We tend to “label” our issues according to who is attached to it. For instance; if someone is in agreement with something that is bringing hurt or harm to you but it wasn’t their fault, we automatically assume that they are involved and our wrath is focused against them. But I think it’s deeper than that. I believe we permit, or allow, these struggles and frustrations in life to infiltrate our hearts and minds by choice, therefore affecting our thoughts and imaginations which build up anger, animosity, even hatred to some degree. We’re mentally and psychologically fighting against ourselves because of what we allow to enter our being because we’re not happy or satisfied with what’s happening around us. So much of what we battle with is really unnecessary and uncalled for but we allow it anyway because we don’t how to or want to deal with it in the right manner. We don’t talk with anyone about because we feel they wouldn’t understand. So what do we do-we suppress it within, and eventually we’ll end up exploding because we can’t take too much more of it to a certain point.

This battle, or these battles we face daily are not the natural battles of every day life. These are spiritual battles that are aimed to destroy us from within, to make us go crazy and blame it on life, medications, believing in strange voices and other hypnotic situations. These are also called vain imaginations, allowing the mind to take in thoughts that are contrary to peaceful living and understanding. When we begin to understand this, we will know that it’s nothing but the trickery and schemes of the enemy of our souls, Satan, to distort our thinking and take our thoughts and minds off of God any way possible. But, as children of God, we know we don’t have to accept these thoughts, or the imaginations that the enemy throws at us. God’s Word protects us from these devices, and strengthens us to know what they are and overcome them by His Holy Spirit. Yes, we do have to choice to allow or permit what’s in our minds and hearts to either strengthen us or destroy us. I pray that you take a serious look at what you’re allowing into your heats, minds, and thoughts.

Just some thoughts from a Man of God who has overcome these fears, who has gained victory over what I used to allow to enter my minds and heart that caused collateral damage in my life, my marriage and family. I know longer allow those thoughts, those vain imaginations, or anything else that’s contrary to what God has for me because it’s His Word that I allow to reign in this temple of God! Just saying . . . .

“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.”

2 CORINTHIANS  10:3-6
