Read Your Word This Morning?

Posted by Men of Redemption on May 31, 2016

Breakfast of ChampionsAs you begin to consistently read God’s Word, don’t be afraid to ask someone to help bring understanding to you in what you read. During your daily reading, you’re going to run into some language that will seem different, stories you’re not accustomed to reading because of its points of reference. Sometimes you might be reading and want to get some clarity and better understanding into what you’ve just read. If you have a friend, a buddy, who can bring some of that into your reading, please utilize his or her insight to help you. You won’t be able to understand it all no matter how much you read or how far you go into a story. There is always so much more wisdom in reading something specific in God’s Word. God may impress upon you a thought and you receive it. But he may speak to that friend and say “Also share with them that it also means . . . . ” That’s just one of the ways God brings insight to His people. Later on as you develop that consistency, you’ll move into Bible Commentaries, addition Bible Translations to help you gain the wisdom that you’re seeking. Be bold, and ask God to bring His understanding to your reading, and He’ll do it in a simple, yet powerful way! Get into His Word today and find out for yourself!

My Daily Devotion

Posted by Men of Redemption on May 31, 2016

Devotions“Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says: “Today, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, In the day of trial in the wilderness, Where your fathers tested Me, tried Me, And saw My works forty years. Therefore I was angry with that generation, And said, ‘They always go astray in their heart, And they have not known My ways.’ So I swore in My wrath, ‘They shall not enter My rest.’” Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God; but exhort one another daily, while it is called “Today,” lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. For we have become partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end, while it is said: “Today, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.”  –   HEBREWS   3:7-15

Today’s Point of Focus:

Let’s keep our hearts with true faith, trusting only in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

Recovery Tip For This Week!

Posted by Men of Redemption on May 30, 2016

Road_Recovery

Tip for this week  . . . . Casting Out Fears.

This week’s tip is a huge one because it involves something that has ensnared so many since they can remember: FEAR. Fear has dominated so may men and women in recovery for so long that it has become a part of their lives like breathing. It’s unfortunately but we have to make a stand that fear will not have dominion over us any longer. We have to stop where we are in life and declare that fear is not a part of my life any longer and that fear must leave in Jesus’ Name! Those thoughts that have been planted into our conscious from people speaking negatively in and over our lives from our past; those that we surrounded ourselves with that were bad influences and used that influence to gain control over us mentally and emotionally, it all ties into fear. No matter where you are in your recovery, take a moment and see if there is any fear you are attempting to hide, or pretending that it’s not there, and speak the light of God to it and expose it for what it truly is – A lie from the pits of hell! Proclaim with all of your heart that fear is done with you, and that the Lord Jesus Christ is Lord over you now! No more lies and deception from the enemy. Trust God that He will take that fear or those fears and remove them from your life. Then watch to power of the Lord God, Jesus Christ, transform your life into a strong pillar of freedom that the enemy can no longer touch.

“Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”  –  2  TIMOTHY  1:6, 7

Devotions“Blessed are the undefiled in the way, Who walk in the law of the Lord! Blessed are those who keep His testimonies, Who seek Him with the whole heart! They also do no iniquity; They walk in His ways. You have commanded us To keep Your precepts diligently. Oh, that my ways were directed To keep Your statutes! Then I would not be ashamed, When I look into all Your commandments. I will praise You with uprightness of heart, When I learn Your righteous judgments. I will keep Your statutes; Oh, do not forsake me utterly!”   –  PSALM   119:1-8

Today’s Point of Focus:

Let’s keep our focus, our meditations and our hearts on the Divine One, Jesus Christ!

Read Your Word This Morning?

Posted by Men of Redemption on May 27, 2016

Breakfast of ChampionsWhat’s the one thing that sticks out to you when reading God’s Word? Is it the story you’re reading and how you relate to the characters in question? Or is it the instruction that is given from God that seems so overwhelming that it looks difficult for anyone to do what God is asking of them? Well, in reading God’s Word, I find myself asking those very same questions and wondering how do they do that. How is it that God can unhappy with a person one minute then ask them to do something extraordinary the next? As you continue to read His Word, you’ll find that that’s what our heavenly Father does. In His Word, He let’s us see the error of our ways, corrects us by confronting it, then tells us in so many words . . . “Go, and do this . . . ” or “Do this and I’ll be with you . . . ” It’s fascinating how a God can do what He does and gets the results He anticipates. My friend, this is a clear sign of obedience. When we do what God wants us do, he prepares, He equips and He qualifies us for His purpose no matter what He asks of us. Committing to reading His Word daily will strengthen our desire to serve God and do whatever He asks of us, and instill the disciplines of godly character obedience within us that pleases our Lord God. Get into reading His Word daily my friends. Pleasing God should be our ultimate goal.

My Daily Devotion

Posted by Men of Redemption on May 27, 2016

Devotions“Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a harlot? Certainly not! Or do you not know that he who is joined to a harlot is one body with her? For “the two,” He says, “shall become one flesh.” But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him. Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.”  –   1  CORINTHIANS   6:15-20

Today’s Point of Focus:

Use your body to glorify God because it belongs to Him. He created you for His purpose not our own.

Read Your Word This Morning?

Posted by Men of Redemption on May 26, 2016

Breakfast of ChampionsDo you ever depend on God for getting the right answers to some situations you’re going through in life when you can’t depend on anyone else? I find myself reading in God’s Word about trusting Him. He tells me in His Word not to trust my own understanding but trust in Him and He’ll lead me to all truth and understanding (Proverbs 3:5-8). There were times when I needed to make some choices and decisions in my life and I needed some wisdom, the right choices to make, and I needed them like yesterday. But when I went to His Word, He revealed to me the wisdom and understanding I needed for every choice and decision that was on my plate. But I never would’ve known that unless I picked up His Word and got into His Word. It’s something about allowing His Word to saturate my heart, my mind and my spirit that overwhelms me with peace and understanding during those difficult and uncertain times in my life. These days, anytime there is a decision to make, I’ll go immediately to His Word without hesitation. Try getting into His Word today, you won’t regret it!

My Daily Devotion

Posted by Men of Redemption on May 26, 2016

“This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. If we say that we Devotionshave fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.”   –   1  JOHN  1:5-10

Today’s Point of Focus:

Let our fellowship with God and one another be truthful, Honest and transparent.

Read Your Word This Morning?

Posted by Men of Redemption on May 25, 2016

Breakfast of ChampionsDo you sometimes feel convicted when reading the Word of God when He speaks about how we should behave as His children? I know, some of us tend to feel like this is same conversation I’ve had with my children. But when it comes to reading God’s Word, that’s how we start out, as babes in Christ, learning to understand truth all over again according to the Word. It may seem remedial, but those of us who have been through a lot in life with serious challenges and behavioral issues, we need to come back to what is real and truth. And the only way to return to what is real and truth is getting into God’s Word daily, asking for understanding through His eyes. His Word is very clear on how His children are to conduct themselves in the Earth:

“Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good. Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another; not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer; distributing to the needs of the saints, given to hospitality. Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep. Be of the same mind toward one another. Do not set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own opinion. Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men.  If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men. Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. Therefore “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; If he is thirsty, give him a drink; For in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”    ROMANS  12:9-21

So if you feel convicted, it’s okay. Now you have an understanding what God expects from His children. He left His Holy Spirit to help us live and love in this way so all we have to do is get into His Word and ask the Holy Spirit to train us under His guidance and authority, and guess what? He will do it without fail because that’s what He does! Get into His Word and find out for yourself!
