Read Your Word This Morning?

Posted by Men of Redemption on June 30, 2016

Daily MannaReading God’s Word makes me Curious. I’m curious because when I read the stories in His Word I’m fascinated, as well as intrigued by the characters, their reactions, and what they end up doing anyways despite how they feel or show opposition to the overall conclusions of their situations. Some of those situation turn out great, some good, and others not so good. But what creates the excitement is what God says and what he expects, and those He’s speaking to are either not willing, afraid, feel inadequate or they just don’t want to listen to God. But as I continue to read on into those stories, God slowly reveals to the reader how He moves upon each and every person in His Word, with love and with passion.  I see so much of myself in His Word through these characters in the Bible that it’s almost as if I’m reading my own life story. I keep reading His Word because I want to know how God continues to show Himself merciful, powerful and gracious in all that He does. My curiosity is always peaked as I get into a story and I don’t know where it’s leading, but God does, and that’s why I keep reading His Word.

My Daily Devotion

Posted by Men of Redemption on June 30, 2016

Devotions“Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says: “Today, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, In the day of trial in the wilderness, Where your fathers tested Me, tried Me, And saw My works forty years. Therefore I was angry with that generation, And said, ‘They always go astray in their heart, And they have not known My ways.’ So I swore in My wrath, ‘They shall not enter My rest.’” Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God; but exhort one another daily, while it is called “Today,” lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. For we have become partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end, while it is said: “Today, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.”  –   HEBREWS   3:7-15

Today’s Point of Focus:

Let’s adhere to the ways of Our Heavenly Father, and pursue Him with all diligence in all things.

Read Your Word This Morning?

Daily Manna

You ever wonder when is the best time to read the Word of God? If you’re probably starting out trying to find a good time to begin, consider before you start your day. I find that as God awakens me each day, I want to give Him my first fruits of everything I set out to do. That means before I go to work, spend time with the Lord; I thank Him for allowing me to arise with life, strength and ability in my body, good health, and with all my senses intact. Then I get into reading His Word, getting instruction, wanting to hear from Him what it is that He wants me to do for that day. Then I pray over my day, my marriage, my family, and over all the activities I’m going to be involved in for His protection and guidance through it all. Then I walk out the door and I’m prepared for what I will face. I do this daily because His Word teaches us to be prepared, gird ourselves, and seek Him so that we have life and that more abundantly. But in many cases, it’s a choice for all of us as to when we choose to read God’s Word. The best time to read God’s Word – is anytime! God is ready, willing and prepared to speak to us whenever we pick up His Word and get intimate with Him because that’s what He desires from His people.

My Daily Devotion

Devotions“And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, “Send men to spy out the land of Canaan, which I am giving to the children of Israel; from each tribe of their fathers you shall send a man, every one a leader among them . . . . Then Caleb quieted the people before Moses, and said, “Let us go up at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome it.” But the men who had gone up with him said, “We are not able to go up against the people, for they are stronger than we.” And they gave the children of Israel a bad report of the land which they had spied out, saying, “The land through which we have gone as spies is a land that devours its inhabitants, and all the people whom we saw in it are men of great stature. There we saw the giants (the descendants of Anak came from the giants); and we were like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight.”  –  NUMBERS  13:1, 2; 30-33

Today’s Point of Focus:

How you see life with God’s eyes can determine your perspectives and direction of life.

Read Your Word This Morning?

Daily Manna

There may be times where I get into a bad habit of putting off reading God’s Word. I’ll do things before I make time to commune with the Father such as friends, hobbies, outdoor activities, church, and even family. I know the last two I just mentioned, church and family, may seem a bit challenging but if I am going to understand who God is and who He is to me, I need to make Him priority over all things. I have no family without God first. I have no church without God being the priority in my life. That’s why Procrastination is such a major problem with many of us. We put off reading His Word for the simple fact that we can wait to do it when we’re done with what we like or enjoy or even when it’s convenient. I try to make God first in all that I do by making time for Him after He wakes me up every morning to get into His Word; to take time out to pray and give Him thanks for allowing me to see another day; and especially give praise and honor to worship Him because of who He is, the Creator of the Universe and all living things. I couldn’t know this or understand this if I’m procrastinating and putting off engaging in reading His Word. I want to know my heavenly Father on a more intimate level, and the only way I know how to do that is not putting off reading His Word and being intentional about it. I make it a priority in my daily life to get into reading. He has made such a difference in my life, and where He has brought me from. Therefore, I make every attempt to make time and not procrastinate or put off the reading of His Word for my life because really, my life belongs to Him. He created it, sustains it and the He is my provider. Get into His Word, stay in His Word, and He will do the same for you.

My Daily Devotion

Posted by Men of Redemption on June 28, 2016

Devotions“Now Thomas, called the Twin, one of the twelve, was not with them when Jesus came. The other disciples therefore said to him, “We have seen the Lord.” So he said to them, “Unless I see in His hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe.” And after eight days His disciples were again inside, and Thomas with them. Jesus came, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, “Peace to you!” Then He said to Thomas, “Reach your finger here, and look at My hands; and reach your hand here, and put it into My side. Do not be unbelieving, but believing.” And Thomas answered and said to Him, “My Lord and my God!” Jesus said to him, “Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”   –   JOHN  20:24-29

Today’s Point of Focus:

Believe that the Lord Our God is who He says He is! For He is, and is to come and reign forever!

Recovery Tip For This Week!

Posted by Men of Redemption on June 27, 2016

Road_Recovery

Tip for this week . . . .

Let not Anger be a part of anything!

The one thing we cannot do or allow in our recoveries is a place for Anger. This emotion will surely put a serious wrench in any kind of recovery plan of structure, no matter how strong it may appear. Anger has the will, the desire and the intention to bring destruction to any efforts you pursue. How do we handle it? Acknowledge when we’re angry, admit it, then allow God to take it away from your mind, your thoughts by prayer and reading His Word, then turning your focus towards His love for you. Then what I might suggest is call up one or two of your accountability partners and share how you feel at that moment. It’s always good to bring someone else into that situation who can bring additional comfort and maybe a word of encouragement to ease the moment. Then proceed with moving forward in your recovery efforts and always prepare for the unexpected by being observant of your environments and those who have place in your sphere of influence. People and things can be triggered to set off past anger issues so being mindful at all times is critical while in recovery.

My Daily Devotion

Posted by Men of Redemption on June 27, 2016

Devotions“So Jesus came again to Cana of Galilee where He had made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman whose son was sick at Capernaum. When he heard that Jesus had come out of Judea into Galilee, he went to Him and implored Him to come down and heal his son, for he was at the point of death. Then Jesus said to him, “Unless you people see signs and wonders, you will by no means believe.” The nobleman said to Him, “Sir, come down before my child dies!” Jesus said to him, “Go your way; your son lives.” So the man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him, and he went his way. And as he was now going down, his servants met him and told him, saying, “Your son lives!” Then he inquired of them the hour when he got better. And they said to him, “Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.” So the father knew that it was at the same hour in which Jesus said to him, “Your son lives.” And he himself believed, and his whole household. This again is the second sign Jesus did when He had come out of Judea into Galilee.”   –  JOHN  4:46-54

Today’s Point of Focus:

Believe, and know that the Word of God is true and always alive.

My Daily Devotion

Posted by Men of Redemption on June 24, 2016

Devotions“But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift. Therefore He says: “When He ascended on high, He led captivity captive, And gave gifts to men.” (Now this, “He ascended”—what does it mean but that He also first descended into the lower parts of the earth? He who descended is also the One who ascended far above all the heavens, that He might fill all things.) And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ—  from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.”   –   EPHESIANS   4:7-16

Today’s Point of Focus:

We all have spiritual gifts, so let’s be and use those gifts for His Glory and not our own.

Read Your Word This Morning?

Posted by Men of Redemption on June 23, 2016

Daily MannaSooner or later as you continue to read God’s Word you’re going to run into some scripture that is written purposefully and specifically for one thing: Correction. One of God’s desires is that we not fear to be corrected when we’re not in alignment with His Word, His purpose or even what He wants us to do for the betterment and encouragement for the Kingdom of God. Sometimes when we read in the Word about correction our first thought is “O God, what have I done? Are you speaking to me right now?” And those are typical emotional responses from everyone who reads the Word. But God doesn’t speak through His Word to condemn us, but through His Word that we might understand His order in doing so. God is a God of Order. There are many ways and means that He strategically designs and orchestrates purpose, direction, and He intends for His people, His followers of Christ to adhere to those instructions. If that means correcting us in so that we fall in line with His plans, then so be it. Receive it as such, because it will better the process in which we are to follow. And through the obedience of that correction we will see His blessings and fruit of that understanding in the efforts that we apply. Look for correction as you read His Word, apply it, and watch your understanding of His Word come alive to you in every aspect of your reading. Continue reading His Word, and experience the goodness of the Lord Jesus Christ!

“Poverty and shame will come to him who disdains correction, But he who regards a rebuke will be honored.”  –   PROVERBS  13:18
