My Daily Devotion

Posted by Men of Redemption on July 29, 2016

Devotions“I rejoiced greatly that I have found some of your children walking in truth, as we received commandment from the Father. And now I plead with you, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment to you, but that which we have had from the beginning: that we love one another. This is love, that we walk according to His commandments. This is the commandment, that as you have heard from the beginning, you should walk in it. For many deceivers have gone out into the world who do not confess Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist. Look to yourselves, that we do not lose those things we worked for, but that we may receive a full reward. Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son. If anyone comes to you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him into your house nor greet him; for he who greets him shares in his evil deeds.”  –  2  JOHN  1:4-11

Today’s Point of Focus:

Walk in Christ’s Commandments, and be not deceived by evil doers.

Read Your Word This Morning?

Posted by Men of Redemption on July 28, 2016

Daily MannaHas reading the Word of God gotten to the point where it’s A Part of your Daily Activity yet? When I started reading the Word it was kind of confusing to me because I didn’t understand the context or the purpose of reading about stories and the lives of ordinary people being used for different situations. It was frustrating, but when I dove into each story, each situation I came across in scripture, it’s purpose was outline in detail with everlasting results. So my curiosity peaked and got my attention and I’ve been reading the Word ever since. I now not only read the Word daily once before I leave the house to start my day but I also return home and get into God’s Word as well, gaining more and more understanding because of the power and wisdom God’s Word brings to my life. I can’t get enough of His Word because He has so much to say and share about who He truly is! In His Word He shows Himself is every created thing-from the seas and plant life to the birds of the air. God is in everything and He shows Himself merciful and gracious in all things. I love getting into His Word.

My Daily Devotion

Posted by Men of Redemption on July 28, 2016

Devotions“For if God did not spare the angels who sinned, but cast them down to hell and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved for judgment; and did not spare the ancient world, but saved Noah, one of eight people, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood on the world of the ungodly; and turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemned them to destruction, making them an example to those who afterward would live ungodly; and delivered righteous Lot, who was oppressed by the filthy conduct of the wicked (for that righteous man, dwelling among them, tormented his righteous soul from day-to-day by seeing and hearing their lawless deeds)— then the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations and to reserve the unjust under punishment for the day of judgment, and especially those who walk according to the flesh in the lust of uncleanness and despise authority. They are presumptuous, self-willed. They are not afraid to speak evil of dignitaries,  whereas angels, who are greater in power and might, do not bring a reviling accusation against them before the Lord.”  –  2 PETER  2:4-11

Today’s Point of Focus:

God will bring judgment on those who propose false doctrines.

Read Your Word This Morning?

Posted by Men of Redemption on July 27, 2016

Daily MannaI find it fascinating when I read the Word of God beginning with the book of Genesis, and How Everything came into Being. I often wonder what was the earth like when there wasn’t all of this that we have. But the thing I know to do is go right to the Word if I want to know the truth about life and it’s beginning. Just for a brief moment, just what the earth was like when it was nothing! This is what God’s Word says about that very fact . . .

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.  And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness. God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. So the evening and the morning were the first day. – Genesis  1:1-5

Everything begins and starts with God. He is the Omnipotent and Omnipresent One who is the beginning and the ending of all things. He’s ever-present in all things. His Word clearly gives us understanding about what He desires and wants to do. And as I keep reading His Word I’m even more intrigued to find out other things that God wants me to know so that my understanding of Him is without doubt or fear, or wonder because I know His Word will show me. Keep reading God’s Word and you too, will discover the mysteries of His Word.

My Daily Devotion

Posted by Men of Redemption on July 27, 2016

Devotions“Immediately He made His disciples get into the boat and go before Him to the other side, to Bethsaida, while He sent the multitude away. And when He had sent them away, He departed to the mountain to pray. Now when evening came, the boat was in the middle of the sea; and He was alone on the land. Then He saw them straining at rowing, for the wind was against them. Now about the fourth watch of the night He came to them, walking on the sea, and would have passed them by. And when they saw Him walking on the sea, they supposed it was a ghost, and cried out; for they all saw Him and were troubled. But immediately He talked with them and said to them, “Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.” Then He went up into the boat to them, and the wind ceased. And they were greatly amazed in themselves beyond measure, and marveled. For they had not understood about the loaves, because their heart was hardened.”   –   MARK  6:45-52

Today’s Point of Focus:

No matter your storms of life, know that the Lord Jesus is always right there!

Read Your Word This Morning?

Posted by Men of Redemption on July 26, 2016

Daily MannaI’m wondering if we ever think how much it Pleases the Lord God when He sees us reading His Word. Well, it truly pleases the Father tremendously because He sees His children wanting and desiring to learn about Him and who He is. I have been reading God’s Word now for several years and every time I read His Word God enlightens me into something new. I’ve read numerous passages over the years over and over again and it’s the same Word, same verse, and same books. But when I pray and ask God to reveal to me what it is that He wants me to see or learn, I get a different perspective and it increases my understanding of what I’m about to get into. God’s Word is full of wisdom and understanding, and it’s not just one-dimensional. There’s so much to learn from every single passage of scripture and I want to be open to that. As God sees us getting into His Word, understanding His Word, and then applying His Word, it puts a big smile on His Face and truly warms His heart because of the obedience of His children. We are God’s greatest creation, His people, and there’s nothing else more pleasing to our Heavenly Father than seeing His prized creation humbly being obedient and learning about our Father in Heaven.

My Daily Devotion

Posted by Men of Redemption on July 26, 2016

Devotions“After these things I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven. And the first voice which I heard was like a trumpet speaking with me, saying, “Come up here, and I will show you things which must take place after this.” Immediately I was in the Spirit; and behold, a throne set in heaven, and One sat on the throne. And He who sat there was like a jasper and a sardius stone in appearance; and there was a rainbow around the throne, in appearance like an emerald. Around the throne were twenty-four thrones, and on the thrones I saw twenty-four elders sitting, clothed in white robes; and they had crowns of gold on their heads. And from the throne proceeded lightnings, thunderings, and voices. Seven lamps of fire were burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God. Before the throne there was a sea of glass, like crystal. And in the midst of the throne, and around the throne, were four living creatures full of eyes in front and in back. The first living creature was like a lion, the second living creature like a calf, the third living creature had a face like a man, and the fourth living creature was like a flying eagle. The four living creatures, each having six wings, were full of eyes around and within. And they do not rest day or night, saying: “Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, Who was and is and is to come!” Whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to Him who sits on the throne, who lives forever and ever, the twenty-four elders fall down before Him who sits on the throne and worship Him who lives forever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying: “You are worthy, O Lord, To receive glory and honor and power; For You created all things, And by Your will they exist and were created.”  –  REVELATION  4:1-11

Today’s Point of Focus:

You don’t have to wonder what we’ll be doing in Heaven once we arrive anymore! Glorifying Him is enough!

Read Your Word This Morning?

Posted by Men of Redemption on July 25, 2016

Daily MannaDo you ever have those “Ah Ha!” Moments when you read the Word of God? Many times as I’m reading God’s Word I see how God gets the attention of a certain individual and gives him instruction about something He wants him to do. God describes that individual thoroughly, giving us a clear perception of who that individual is, what his occupation is in life and his present situation. And then as I read what God wants him to do, I’m just as dumbfounded as the character himself-how can this guy do such a great task and he doesn’t have the skill-set, the mind-set or the desire to be obedient in what is being asked of him. But then that’s why God is who He says He is-He doesn’t look for qualified individuals, He just qualifies him by giving him the strength, the mind-set and the skill-set to do what He is asking of him. So it’s not about who you are or what you can or cannot do, it’s about will you accept the challenge, will you be obedient to call on your life and trust that God will do in you and through you what He says He will do. “Ah Ha” so now I get it! There are so many of these moments in God’s Word and sometimes the results aren’t as expected but the lessons are truly learned when it comes to God calling an individual to purpose.

Recovery Tip For This Week!

Posted by Men of Redemption on July 25, 2016

Road_Recovery

This week’s recovery tip . . . .

Be Careful in Recovery, Because There’s an APP For It!

As I continue to work with men in recovery I’m finding that their cell phones get a lot of use because of all the applications that are out there. I mean it seems like there’s an “APP” for everything! But to many of the men out there in recovery, not all “APPS” are for you while you’re in recovery! Please take note of this. Most of us have had problems with social media enough already, and the very last thing we want to do is allow an “APP” to take us somewhere we really don’t or shouldn’t go. The “APP” may appear to look good, sound good, have that certain appeal to it that will draw us in to using it but so does sin! My encouragement to you guys is to very mindful to even considering “APPS”, especially if you’re not at a point in your recovery where you can be actively responsible to not allow yourself to go somewhere you don’t want to go. Once you go there, and you’ve cross that pivotal line of commitment, then you’re hooked, and it can set you back in recovery big time! So be mindful of these “APPS” and the introductions to “NEW APPS” that are so-called designed to help you get to things faster. This is exactly the opposite of what we as men are and should be looking for-things to happen faster. That’s what gotten us in our situations in the beginning! Recovery doesn’t need an “APP”. Recovery needs us to commitment to the process, do the work, trust God throughout the entire process, and be accountable to our brothers in a face-to-face relationship.

My Daily Devotion

Posted by Men of Redemption on July 25, 2016

Devotions“Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?  Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? “So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’  For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”   –  MATTHEW  6:25-34

Today’s Point of Focus:

Our Lord God tells us not to worry, as He has all of our cares and concerns covered and contained.
