A Writer’s Thoughts On . . . .

Power of a praying wifeMen of God – We Are Called to Protect and Lead! Why Aren’t We?

I ask myself this question daily, and my answers are different everyday. Why aren’t we, including myself, doing what our Creator, the Lord Jesus Christ, created us as men to do, walking and moving in this gifting? What are our excuses, our fears, our reasons for not acting in this faith if we call ourselves Men of God? I’ve found, like in all of my excuses, that there is one very important reason that we as men don’t operate in this calling: Identity. If we truly knew who we are, who God “says” we are, then and only then will we begin to know the power that He embedded in us as men and accept that authority to move in it with His grace and mercy. I found that when I finally discovered who I was in Christ, He (Christ) took away the stigmas or monikers that I identified with growing up as a young boy and teenager. I was told I wouldn’t amount to anything good. I was labeled as someone who would probably end up being a bum. I was told and spoken over as someone who wouldn’t be successful in anything I do. For years that stayed with me, and in time it became a belief in my belief system and that’s what I identified with. Because of that it led me down a road that included behavioral changes and never understood who I was. But thanks be to God, my Savior and Lord, I know who I am today! I am a Man of God! I am valiant warrior for Christ! I am more than a conqueror! I could go on and on, but I want to share with men that once we know who we are in Christ, we can be that protector, that provider to and for our families in every sense of the word. I believe we, as men, need to stop where we’re at in life and take a serious look at our lives and ask ourselves “Who am I really in this life? and What is it that God wants me to do?” Then He will show us exactly who we are and why He created us with His purpose in mind. As we begin to walk in that understanding, His Holy Spirit will empower us to do what He has called us to do. So don’t allow the words of those who have no relevance in our lives to label us or define us by what they perceive. Trust God, and His Word, and believe who the Father says we are.

Just some thoughts on knowing who we are as Men of God from a brother who learned who he was in Christ, so that I might share with those who are having troubles or struggles in realizing these truths for their own healing and understanding. Just saying . . . .

“Now the Angel of the Lord came and sat under the terebinth tree which was in Ophrah, which belonged to Joash the Abiezrite, while his son Gideon threshed wheat in the winepress, in order to hide it from the Midianites. And the Angel of the Lord appeared to him, and said to him, “The Lord is with you, you mighty man of valor!”  –   JUDGES   6:11, 12
