Restoring a Life of Purity – One Day at a Time

Read Your Word This Morning?

Posted by Men of Redemption on July 13, 2016

Daily MannaAs we continue to read God’s Word, we will come across those verses, those chapters that talk about How to Live a Godly life. So many of us have this perspective that the Word of God is filled with all of this bad stuff, killing people, marriages and families gone crazy, fathers sacrificing their children, etc. In some of the stories of the Bible we do find situations like those and many others. But what most of us failed to understand about these stories is that they are there for a reason, that we might see where life really is and learn from it. God’s Word is pretty clear when it comes to describing a situation with an individual or family. We see where behaviors begin that affect generation later on in life; we see where families pronounce curses over their children without even knowing that’s what they’re doing; we also see where a father gave His only Son that we might have life, and that more abundantly. Yes, God’s Word is filled with just about everything we ever want to know about life and whatever has happen before us. One of the keys to understanding these situations is that most of us are living and repeating those same situations today and don’t know how to deal with them. Why can’t we deal with them the way the people in Biblical times did? In most cases, those who had a love for God went through a disobedient season in their lives, suffered the consequences and later repented. Others remained with a hardened heart and experienced separation from God. We learn from this that we all have a choice to obey God’s Word or rebel. So God’s Word is not about condemnation, but love and grace when we recognize the purpose His Son died for our sins. There is so much to learn, to know about God when we get into His Word. That’s why we read, to understand, to be filled with His wisdom and knowledge, and to know our Savior on a more intimate, personal level. Reading His Word will bring revelation to any misconceptions, and any false statements suggested by others whose intentions are not to bring glory to His Name. Read His Word for yourself, experience the Word of God, and know for yourself!
