The Tip for this week . . . .

Keep Your Thoughts Focused on Recovery.

Is your recovery keeping you busy? Are you constantly being occupied with tasks that keep you focused on recovery efforts and structure that prevents you from having acting out or a relapse? In a lot ways that’s a good thing. But one of the main distractions in recovery is keeping our thoughts focused on our recovery efforts. With everything our recovery process has entailed, the boundaries and accountability, it can be extra hard fundamentally to keep our thoughts from wandering about in areas of life that they don’t need to be in. How do we keep our focus with our thoughts able to wander at any time? Well, first we need to acknowledge the thought, realize that it’s not of God if it’s glorifying selfish desires, then place that or those thoughts in captivity under the obedience of Christ by casting it out by speaking the Name of Jesus Christ over it. And that includes every and all thoughts that edifies self and fleshly pleasures. It’s not hard if we focus on taking it captive. Don’t play with your thoughts because you don’t know where they’ve been and what they’ve done to the previous victim. Make a stand and declare the grace and mercy over your mind and thoughts intentionally for God protection over your mind.

“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.”

–  2 Corinthians  10:3-6
