A Psalm of Praise For You This Day!

praiseTHE GLORY OF THE LORD IN CREATION

“O Lord, our Lord, How excellent is Your name in all the earth, Who have set Your glory above the heavens! Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants You have ordained strength, Because of Your enemies, That You may silence the enemy and the avenger. When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, The moon and the stars, which You have ordained, What is man that You are mindful of him, And the son of man that You visit him? For You have made him a little lower than the angels, And You have crowned him with glory and honor. You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands; You have put all things under his feet, All sheep and oxen—Even the beasts of the field, The birds of the air, And the fish of the sea That pass through the paths of the seas. O Lord, our Lord, How excellent is Your name in all the earth!”

My Daily Devotion

Posted by Men of Redemption on August 31, 2016

Devotions“Beloved, I now write to you this second epistle (in both of which I stir up your pure minds by way of reminder), that you may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us, the apostles of the Lord and Savior, knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.” For this they willfully forget: that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of water and in the water, by which the world that then existed perished, being flooded with water. But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.   –   2 PETER  3:1-9

Today’s Point of Focus:

Trust and believe that God will do all that He says He will do!

Read Your Word This Morning?

Posted by Men of Redemption on August 30, 2016

Breakfast of ChampionsThere’s nothing like reading the Word of God for yourself. Why? Because there are so many False Teachers out there proclaiming God has spoken to them and He has a word for them. But little does anyone observe, that individual is leading people into utter deception and away from God. That is their primary intent! First of all, if we’re reading God’s Word we know that 2 Peter 2:1 tells us about false prophets and teachers with secret agendas that are designed to turn us away from the truth. If we are not engaged in reading the Word of God for ourselves, we will be subjected to any and all “sounds good” doctrines as long as it states God said it or Jesus says so. So how do we tell the difference between truth and lies? Get into the Word of God yourselves! Just don’t settle with everything you hear from the Bible as true without confirming what you’ve heard by reading it yourself. Take you Bible with you to church and when the pastor starts talking about scripture, go to that portion of the Word and validate that passage as he reads it. We need to challenge the individual on his or her stance if we have any doubt or suspicion that what they are saying has been diluted or paraphrased for whatever reason. Let’s stop settling for listening to others saying “Okay, God said for you to . . . . ” and they don’t have His Word to show a foundation of truth to back it up! Read you Word every chance you get to know the truth. When we know the truth, then that’s when the TRUTH sets us free!

“But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction.”  –  2 PETER  2:1

WAITING FOR THE REDEMPTION OF THE LORD

“Out of the depths I have cried to You, O Lord; Lord, hear my voice! Let Your ears be attentive To the voice of my supplications. If You, Lord, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand? But there is forgiveness with You, That You may be feared. I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, And in His word I do hope. My soul waits for the Lord More than those who watch for the morning—Yes, more than those who watch for the morning. O Israel, hope in the Lord; For with the Lord there is mercy,
And with Him is abundant redemption. And He shall redeem Israel From all his iniquities.”

My Daily Devotion

Posted by Men of Redemption on August 30, 2016

Devotions“And at this point His disciples came, and they marveled that He talked with a woman; yet no one said, “What do You seek?” or, “Why are You talking with her?” The woman then left her waterpot, went her way into the city, and said to the men, “Come, see a Man who told me all things that I ever did. Could this be the Christ?” Then they went out of the city and came to Him. In the meantime His disciples urged Him, saying, “Rabbi, eat.”But He said to them, “I have food to eat of which you do not know.”Therefore the disciples said to one another, “Has anyone brought Him anything to eat?” Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work. Do you not say,‘There are still four months and then comes the harvest’?Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest! And he who reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit for eternal life, that both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together. For in this the saying is true: ‘One sows and another reaps.’ I sent you to reap that for which you have not labored; others have labored, and you have entered into their labors.”   –  JOHN  4:27-38

Today’s Point of Focus:

We all have a purpose in this life. Let’s pursue that purpose with diligence.

Recovery Tip For This Week!

Posted by Men of Redemption on August 29, 2016

praiseTip for this week . . . .

Know What You’re Believing God For

Because thinking shapes our beliefs, and beliefs in turn determine our lifestyle, a biblical mindset is virtually in important in our sanctification. Every day that God gives us we choose to let either the world or God’s Word shape our thoughts and actions. In recovery, we need to have the mindset that God’s Word is our foundation and that’s what we will stand on, and that’s what we will believe. Last week we shared about being focused and determined to stay the course. But we also want to know what we believe and allow that belief to stay out front so we can see it and apply it. Those of us in recovery, we have to know what we’re believing God for if we are to have success in our efforts toward purity and pleasing God. Of course we all want to walk in freedom, in wholeness and in truth, but with all that we’re doing do we honestly believe we can attain that goal? If we know what God has brought us through we have to believe that we will walk in true freedom if continue to stay the course that is set before us. What we’re believing God for is critical to our success, and not wavering in that belief is instrumental in being consistent and true to our journey in this. I truly believe that God wants me healed and walking in holiness, living in the liberty of His glory, and pursuing Him righteously without direction or fear. Know that God desires us to be holy in all that we say, see, hear and do. What we believe will help determine, and guide us unto all truth and understanding if we stand on our beliefs and trust God to do all that He says He will do. I have no doubt that He will complete in me what He has started, without fail. Do you believe the same in your recovery? Begin to evaluate what you’re believing God for in your recovery. Are you trusting Him for daily victory? Are you believing He will get you through all that you face from the moment you awake till the time you close your eyes for bed? Start checking your belief system and redefine what you’re believing God for in your recovery.

THE LORD HELPS HIS TROUBLED PEOPLE

Lord, how they have increased who trouble me! Many are they who rise up against me. Many are they who say of me, “There is no help for him in God.” Selah. But You, O Lord, are a shield for me, My glory and the One who lifts up my head. I cried to the Lord with my voice, And He heard me from His holy hill. Selah. I lay down and slept; I awoke, for the Lord sustained me. I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people Who have set themselves against me all around. Arise, O Lord; Save me, O my God! For You have struck all my enemies on the cheekbone; You have broken the teeth of the ungodly. Salvation belongs to the Lord. Your blessing is upon Your people. Selah.

My Daily Devotion

Posted by Men of Redemption on August 29, 2016

Devotions“And in Lystra a certain man without strength in his feet was sitting, a cripple from his mother’s womb, who had never walked. This man heard Paul speaking. Paul, observing him intently and seeing that he had faith to be healed, said with a loud voice, “Stand up straight on your feet!” And he leaped and walked. Now when the people saw what Paul had done, they raised their voices, saying in the Lycaonian language, “The gods have come down to us in the likeness of men!” And Barnabas they called Zeus, and Paul, Hermes, because he was the chief speaker. Then the priest of Zeus, whose temple was in front of their city, brought oxen and garlands to the gates, intending to sacrifice with the multitudes. But when the apostles Barnabas and Paul heard this, they tore their clothes and ran in among the multitude, crying out and saying, “Men, why are you doing these things? We also are men with the same nature as you, and preach to you that you should turn from these useless things to the living God, who made the heaven, the earth, the sea, and all things that are in them, who in bygone generations allowed all nations to walk in their own ways. Nevertheless He did not leave Himself without witness, in that He did good, gave us rain from heaven and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness.” And with these sayings they could scarcely restrain the multitudes from sacrificing to them.  –   ACTS   14:8-18

Today’s Point of Focus:

Let’s stand up against the idols of life and declare God’s greatness to a fallen world.

Read Your Word This Morning?

Posted by Men of Redemption on August 26, 2016

Breakfast of ChampionsWhy is it that sometimes when I read the Word of God I see Bad Things Happen to Good People? I mean, take for example Paul, who used to be Saul. Didn’t he write a little more than two-thirds of the New Testament, and then had to go through so much turmoil, so much hatred, so much persecution because of his faith and testimony of Christ? If we’re doing the right thing why is it that we have all this trouble and struggle if God is leading us? Well, I’ve learned and still learning that there are reasons why we go through what we go through. The thing we need to remember is that God is in total, complete control of all that we do, all that we go through in life if He is our Lord and Savior. Once we have made that declaration, in His Word we will learn that Jesus Himself said that we will have tribulation (struggles, problems, persecutions, etc.) just like the Apostle Paul went through. But if we continue to read our Word, we will discover that God allows these things to take place for our good and it has His purpose in mind if we endure. Know this for a fact: No matter what we go through in this life, always remember that Jesus is right there in the midst and will see us through it no matter what it may be or turn out to be. There is purpose, strengthening faith and perseverance involved that is forming and shaping our character and our being. Continue reading God’s Word, trust Him in all things, and watch His presence proceed you with His glory and power.

“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”   –  JOHN  16:33

“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.”   ROMANS  8:28-30

A Psalm of Praise For You This Day!

Posted by Men of Redemption on August 26, 2016

praisePROMISED FAITHFULNESS

“I will sing of mercy and justice; To You, O Lord, I will sing praises. I will behave wisely in a perfect way. Oh, when will You come to me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart. I will set nothing wicked before my eyes; I hate the work of those who fall away; It shall not cling to me. A perverse heart shall depart from me; I will not know wickedness. Whoever secretly slanders his neighbor, Him I will destroy; The one who has a haughty look and a proud heart, Him I will not endure. My eyes shall be on the faithful of the land, That they may dwell with me; He who walks in a perfect way, He shall serve me. He who works deceit shall not dwell within my house; He who tells lies shall not continue in my presence. Early I will destroy all the wicked of the land, That I may cut off all the evildoers from the city of the Lord.”
