Restoring a Life of Purity – One Day at a Time

Read Your Word This Morning?

Posted by Men of Redemption on August 8, 2016

Breakfast of ChampionsI’m reading the book of Daniel, and have been for the last week or so. I’ve heard about read about how God held the jaws of the lions when Daniel was thrown in the lion’s den; I read about how Daniel and his three friends were put into the fiery furnace but none of them were even touched by the flames, let alone had any smell of smoke on them or their clothing. Just unbelievable facts about what God does for His people who love Him. So I was thinking . . . . Obedience is what pleases the Father so am I being obedient in serving God? It’s easy to read about we ought to be obedient to the Father but what we have to do is seriously ask ourselves are we truly being obedient to His every Word. Of course, in our human existence we can’t follow every word of God to the letter, but we can not let that be an excuse to fully not try to remain obedient to Him. Daniel didn’t waver in faith or have to think about what he needed to do, it was in his heart. I want that kind of obedience in my life. It’s good to read about the courage and determination of Biblical men of God when their hearts naturally turn towards God throughout adversity and trials. I want that faith, that obedience in my life. That’s what I get out of reading God’s Word about obedience. This is just one of many examples the Word of God shows us obedience is better than sacrifice.
