Restoring a Life of Purity – One Day at a Time

Recovery Tip For this Week!

Tip for This Week  . . . .

We’ve shared about staying focused. We’ve shared about being mindful of doubt, and several other distractions to our recovery. But the one thing we must always remember while in recovery is this: We have to stay rooted and grounded in God’s Word! We have a plan for recovery, okay, we get that. But in order for us to carry out that plan we need a solid, unmovable foundation that’s going to keep us on firm ground, not swayed to the left or right by the oppositions of life, and certainly not be influenced by the pressures to succeed by the standards set by others. We need to hold onto our faith in God and trust Him throughout the process no matter what comes our way. When we make a sound, conscious decision to stay rooted in God’s Word, we will not be easily persuaded to entertain negative thoughts to quit, to change our perspective with something new and unproven. Being rooted and grounded means having God’s Word engrafted into our souls, our spirits, our minds and hearts so that the fruits of our labor will honor the Lord because of our submission to His purpose and not our own. We need Faith. We need Hope and we need Love. And each of these will help keep us securely connected to the character building attributes we’ll need while in recovery to apply to our lives for living holy in our Heavenly Father’s eyes. Keep God’s Word at the forefront of everything we do in recovery and we’ll see the growth and maturity that pleases God in all that we say, see, hear and do. Pray His Word over our recovery, speak His Word over our recovery and trust that all He has for us as we remain obedient to His Word will come to fruition.

“As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving. Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.”  –  COLOSSIANS  2:6-10
