Restoring a Life of Purity – One Day at a Time

Read Your Word This Morning?

Posted by Men of Redemption on November 11, 2016

Breakfast of ChampionsTime and time again as I’m reading God’s Word I’m constantly reminded about Loving my Neighbor, doing for him as I would want others to do for me. Yes, all of that is in God’s Word. For some, that is truly a difficult task to say the least. But for us, as children of God, it is the very culture of our lifestyle. I know it’s hard for a lot of Christians to do God’s will with humility-washing the feet of others, loving those who do evil against us, or being a friend to those who would purposely take advantage of us at any chance they’re given. But because Christ died for the sins of all mankind, His death, burial and resurrection gave way for us to live a life of redemption, to show and extend salvation to all no matter the situation or circumstances. Just as He walked this earth, lived a sinless life, turned away no man for the opportunity for salvation, we too, should live likewise in the power of His Holy Spirit. That’s the only way we’ll ever be able love everyone like He did. We can not love on our own without the prejudices, the dislikes, the selfishness, not on our own ability or intellect. It’s impossible. We need His Spirit to do that! So as we read His Word, stop and think for a moment to see if showing unconditional love to our neighbor with looking for something in return is viable in your life. Can you honestly say that you’re loving others as Christ loved others when He was here on earth? He left His Holy Spirit to empower us to do just that. So why aren’t we doing it? Well, maybe we don’t realize the power that is in us, and all we need is for us to look inside our hearts and ask the Spirit help us do just that. He’s willing and He is also more than able to do it for you and me. All we need to do is just ask Him. Go on, go that extra mile.

“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? And if you greet your brethren only, what do you do more than others? Do not even the tax collectors do so? Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.”  –  Matthew  5:43-48
