. . . . Breaking The Chains!!!

I’m grateful for the opportunity to work with men who have and are struggling with Sexual Addictive behaviors, helping them understand what  has caused them to be subjected to being overwhelmed with sexual sin. Yes, there is sexual sin in this life and it’s a bigger problem than you could ever imagine. Every time I listen to the radio, or turn on a news broadcast there is someone who has committed a sexual crime, indecency with minors, alleged rape, educators having sex with their students, or pastors being over-familiar with those who attend their church, and this is happening with men and women committing these crimes. And dare I say it’s happening in the church and has been for a long time but it’s not being dealt with on any level in the church because we have pastors who seriously don’t know how to deal with it. That’s a true fact! So what do we as a society do about this because it’s affecting all of us in some capacity? Our sons and daughters are being influenced by those they attend school with; by those they walk daily with in life; by those we work with; and by those we actually sit and listen to who have our undivided attention. So I hope I have your attention now because it’s all around us no matter where we look. no-chains

I strongly believe there are a number of organizations, support group ministries and treatment centers out there that can help these men and women overcome the behaviors that have ensnared them for many years. Many of these behaviors are a result of past hurts, wounds or trauma that they had incurred and never dealt with. The pain, the hurt, the shame and guilt that comes with this are the results of consequences that have resonated in the lives of men and women today causing so much deceit, deception and damnation. I’ve discovered that there are other things that these same men and women go through that also lead to sexual sin as well. Envy, depression, suicide, jealousy, as well as porn and infidelity. All of these working at the deep levels of the hurts and wounds of the afflicted can and will cause both men and women to medicate their behaviors with sexual sin so that they won’t have to deal with them again because they really don’t know how to with the pain, shame and guilt involved.

But I do know who can make the difference in setting the captives free: Jesus Christ! Those very chains of sexual sin had me bound for decades, causing so much pain for those in my sphere of influence-my family, my job, my church and everyone I was connected with. This problem is that big! But I’ve got news for you this day: There is no sexual sin too big for my Savior, Jesus Christ, to handle and set those who desire freedom to be set free. We just have to want and desire to be set free. It can’t and won’t happen as life goes on, we have to be pro-active in all of our efforts, get connected with a good, Bible-based curriculum with high levels of accountability and side-by-side communication recovery efforts. So breaking the chains is never easy, but if you seriously want to walk in freedom from those addictive behaviors, commitment yourself to a good program (Pure Desire Ministries International is a great one!) and follow the process, then experience the transformation of walking and living in purity through Jesus Christ.

Just some encouraging thoughts from a brother who has lived that life of addictive behaviors and has overcome, and still overcome daily as I continue in my efforts for my recovery, and assisting other men in overcoming as well so that they, too, can have a chance with a life surrendered to purity through Jesus Christ. Just saying . . . .

“Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.”  –  1 Corinthians 6:18-20
