A Writer’s Thoughts On . . . . The True Vine and Staying Connected

Posted by Men of Redemption on March 7, 2017

I am an admirer of the beauty that I see all around me in life-the skies and the cloud coordination of how they stay together; the different colors of flowers and bird life; the plants for food that provide us with nourishment and healthy living. For some specific reason or reasons these are sustainable because of one common purpose, I believe, and that is they are and remain connected to their vine. I see the clouds as they form within the circumference of the atmosphere, displaying various shapes and sizes that give us humans something to ponder as to what is God showing us as they congregate together. They are connected to something. Then I look at the plants and bird life, how each accommodates one another by feeding and nurturing, bringing life because of what they have to offer one another. They are connected to something I know. But then I look at life as a human being, what it is that we do and what our intended purpose is and I see so much in the potential we have for one another and even for ourselves. The interesting thing though is seeing all this great potential and not seeing the consistency of that potential, I’m wondering, what are we connected to? What makes us so special out of all that God has created that we are His prized creation? I’d like to think that we are connected with our creator, the Lord Jesus Christ Himself by His Holy Spirit, but sometimes that’s hard to see with all the hypocrisy that is in our lives. No, I’m not casting stones or making myself better than any of you, not at all! What I am saying is that in order for us as human beings, God’s creation and children of the Most High God, Jesus Christ, there has to be something that we are connected to that produces the fruits that display the beauty that is within us, the potential that is embedded in many of us. I strongly believe that connection has to be abiding in the vinedresser, the Lord Jesus Himself. How can we exhibit the traits and characteristics of who we really are if we’re not connected to Him on all levels? We have to abide in Him as He is our vinedresser.

Knowing God on an intimate level makes us and connects us with who He is and what our purpose is through obedience. We reverence the Father, our Creator, and fear His glory, His power, His presence because He is the reason we live, breathe and have our being. Staying connected to God is difficult for a lot of us because once the excitement of salvation has entered our lives we tend to relax and become complacent in this new relationship and that it’s enough to show my allegiance or association. But those that do that don’t realize that this is only the beginning because God has so much more for us. Plant life continues to grow, staying connected to its vine as it produces life and multiplies producing more seed. The clouds seem to multiply daily, never knowing if the clouds we saw yesterday are still there or they have increased in number. Nevertheless, because of their connection to their creator, life is sustained, and the beauty and elegance of our creator is revealed through their connection with Him. Just think if we as human beings, God’s greatest creation, stayed connected to Him, our vinedresser, just think of what God’s unlimited purpose and intention could be in all of lives! We would be a blessings not only to others but to everyone in our sphere of influence. People would see the fruit of our lives and know without a doubt that we are connected to some type of life-giving source where people are blessed, healed and living in His presence. Spending time with our creator is key to staying connected to the vine, as we cannot bear fruit without Him. Making time in our day, that day and time that God Himself created for us so that we will make time for Him is purposeful in itself. Be intentional in making time with the vinedresser, Jesus Christ, and stay connected to Him for all things so that we can be a producer of life as God strengthens us for His purpose and His will.

“I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.”  –  John 15:1-8
