Read Your Word This Morning?

IN CHRIST WE ARE NO LONGER SLAVES TO SIN BUT SLAVES TO RIGHTEOUSNESS AND HOLINESS

Are you struggling in areas of your life where you just can’t seem to be free from? Or maybe you having to battle the issues of addictive behaviors and have been for quite some time and  just want to be free from that lifestyle? I know I’ve used words that sound like war-battle, struggle, slaves-and I used those words because when you’re dealing with kinds of issues in life that’s exactly what it is, a war! And if for one minute you even think there’s no truth to that statement you’re allowing yourself to be deceived big time! If we look at our lives today, whatever we love the most in life that’s what we are a slave to. If its money, pleasure, material things, sex, whatever, we are a slave to its every desire. It transforms us, it shapes our mindset, and it leads us down a road spiraling out of control which will eventually lead to destruction, even death. We are blinded by the rewards, the “high” of obtaining it through the process it creates. I know what these things will do because I’ve faced those challenges over the course of my brief life and it had led me down that road, almost to the brink of death. But because of God’s Word, as I read and studied how His love and grace has and is saving me daily, I am no longer a slave to that lifestyle but a slave unto holiness and righteousness. Christ died for my sins that I committed by going to the Cross, shedding His blood and raising from the dead so that I might have life eternal with Him and no longer be bound by sin, by those things that had kept me from living a life free of those behaviors that had ensnared me for years. I am a slave to righteousness in Christ now. I no longer desire those things but desire holiness, peace, the comfort of Christ in safety of His loving arms. I no longer desire the things that made me crave pleasure and more of it. Now, I desire to be conformed in the image of Jesus Christ and the entire process that it takes because it involves seeking Him with my whole heart, mind and soul. I get into His Word daily, and trust Him to do in me what He began before the foundations of the earth were formed-and that’s create me, design me and conform me to be like His Son. And being a slave to righteousness brings hope and desire that cannot be attained by human hands, but only by the hands of Almighty God Himself, Jesus Christ. I’m free, living and walking in that freedom today because I chose the only to be set free from what I was going. I’m a slave for righteousness in Jesus Christ, and that, my friends is true freedom!
