START YOUR DAY OFF WITH GOD’S WORD!

Today’s Reading: Matthew 5: 1-12 . . . .

“And seeing the multitudes, He went up on a mountain, and when He was seated His disciples came to Him. Then He opened His mouth and taught them, saying: “Blessed are the poor in spirit, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, For they shall be comforted. Blessed are the meek, For they shall inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled. Blessed are the merciful, For they shall obtain mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, For they shall be called sons of God. Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven. “Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”

.  .  .  To Guard The Words That I Speak to Others.

This day, I pray Lord God, that You O God guard the words that I speak to and over others; Help me to be intentional in sharing from my heart and not my mind; let those words that I speak be full of life, edifying those that they are intended to reach. Let me not curse the one and bless the other with same mouth or words that leave my heart heavenly Father; help me to know what’s in my heart and be sensitive to the ears of those that hear me, that listen to me. Teach me Father God to guard my heart that what I allow to enter into me is peaceable, joyful and honorable; that the words of my mouth be acceptable in you sight O Lord.

“Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer.”  –  Psalm 19:14

START YOUR DAY OFF WITH GOD’S WORD!

Today’s Reading: Proverbs 4: 14-27 . . . .

“Do not enter the path of the wicked, And do not walk in the way of evil. Avoid it, do not travel on it; Turn away from it and pass on. For they do not sleep unless they have done evil; And their sleep is taken away unless they make someone fall. For they eat the bread of wickedness, And drink the wine of violence. But the path of the just is like the shining sun, That shines ever brighter unto the perfect day. The way of the wicked is like darkness; They do not know what makes them stumble. My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes; Keep them in the midst of your heart; For they are life to those who find them, And health to all their flesh. Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life. Put away from you a deceitful mouth, And put perverse lips far from you. Let your eyes look straight ahead, And your eyelids look right before you. Ponder the path of your feet, And let all your ways be established. Do not turn to the right or the left; Remove your foot from evil.”

.  .  . To Help Me Become a Man of Righteousness in Character.

This day Father God, I pray and  ask you Lord to help me become a man of character in righteousness; help me lean not on my perception of my thoughts but by Your Spirit I learn to act accordingly with grace, peace, love and kindness in everything I do. That my decisions are full of preparation that has been ordained and prayed over before speaking to others; that I develop a forgiving heart and help others in their time of need. teach me O God, that I might hear your voice and glean from Your Word, being taught to receive and apply Your Word to every area of my life; that everything I say or do will represent You O God with humility and grace. Lead me this day I pray, in Jesus’ Name.

“Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.”  –  Colossians 3:12-17

START YOUR DAY OFF WITH GOD’S WORD!

Today’s Reading: 1 Corinthians 6: 12-20 . . . .

“All things are lawful for me, but all things are not helpful. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any. Foods for the stomach and the stomach for foods, but God will destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. And God both raised up the Lord and will also raise us up by His power. Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a harlot? Certainly not! Or do you not know that he who is joined to a harlot is one body with her? For “the two,” He says, “shall become one flesh.” But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him. Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.

START YOUR DAY OFF WITH GOD’S WORD!

Today’s Reading: 1 Corinthians 6: 1-11 . . . .

“Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unrighteous, and not before the saints? Do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world will be judged by you, are you unworthy to judge the smallest matters? Do you not know that we shall judge angels? How much more, things that pertain to this life? If then you have judgments concerning things pertaining to this life, do you appoint those who are least esteemed by the church to judge? I say this to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise man among you, not even one, who will be able to judge between his brethren? But brother goes to law against brother, and that before unbelievers! Now therefore, it is already an utter failure for you that you go to law against one another. Why do you not rather accept wrong? Why do you not rather let yourselves be cheated? No, you yourselves do wrong and cheat, and you do these things to your brethren! Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.

A Writer’s Thoughts On . . . .

HOW DO YOU REACT TO IT.

I face this daily. I’m a man. I know what I like and I know what I love. I know what draws me away from something to another. I know what keeps me focused once I have committed to it. I know what will keep me somewhere when I choose to remain there. This is what I call knowing me, my limitations and my weaknesses. This helps me understand how to deal with life, deal with struggles, and most importantly, deal with TEMPTATION.

I don’t know how most people deal with this subject because it has many forms and affects everyone in different ways. Some look at temptation as a challenge, to see how far they can go, how close they can approach the line before going over it and have committed themselves to it. Others see temptation as something very evil, something that they don’t want to face or deal with so they avoid it at all costs. Either way, if you are a living breathing human being you will have to face temptation regardless of how you see it. The key to dealing with temptation: Your reaction to it.

What is temptation? TEMPTATION: “a desire to do something, especially something wrong or unwise: a thing or course of action that attracts or tempts  someone.”

I get tempted while I’m at work. I get tempted while I’m driving to and from my destinations of choice. I get tempted when I wake up every morning and proceed to begin my day. I get tempted going to the grocery store or the mall. I easily get tempted when I get around large crowds or at the beach, anyway where there is anything enticing to my liking. Maybe you have endured such temptation or maybe you haven’t. I’ve learned something about temptation over the years: temptation is not a sin-it’s our reaction to it that determines it’s outcome. I’ve learned to deal with temptation by acknowledging it; seeing it for what it truly is-a lie from the pits of hell. The I rebuke it by denouncing it and it deadly intentions and speak the Word of God against it! The temptation looses it’s effectiveness and retreats. It won’t stop coming at me, but for that moment he will retreat and will attempt to try to catch me at another time when I’m more vulnerable. The good thing about how I reacted-I  know he’ll be back and I’ll always be ready for his persistent attacks. I have to keep God’s Word on my mind and in my heart, to use His Word as a sword to defend myself against the wiles and devices of the enemy(2 Corinthians 2:11). And no better example I know of than when Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior, was tempted by Satan in the wilderness. Image result for temptation of jesus

“Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry. Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.” But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’” Then the devil took Him up into the holy city, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down. For it is written: ‘He shall give His angels charge over you,’ and, ‘In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone.’Jesus said to him, “It is written again, ‘You shall not tempt the Lord your God.’” Again, the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. And he said to Him, “All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me.” Then Jesus said to him, “Away with you, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.’” Then the devil left Him, and behold, angels came and ministered to Him.” –  Matthew 4: 1-11

I strongly believe that this real life example of the Lord demonstrating how temptation should be approached and dealt with is exactly how we as children of God, Men and Women of God, should respond to temptation. Lest I forget not that I do understand that some of us are weaker than others, and they want to overcome and be strengthened to stand up against temptation. I’ve discovered that the only way to stand against the enemy of our souls is two-fold: Know who you are in Christ Jesus, and know the weapons of warfare and their utilization of them. God’s Word, knowing that you are a child of the Most High God Jesus Christ, and knowing the weapons for our defense are critical to standing against attacks of temptation. I know no other way that’s successful, that’s intentional, or that’s credible that what I’ve just mention above. I have to know me, my limitations and what draws me away from my first love: and that the Love of Christ and my relationship with Him. I choose to deal with temptation this way, and as long as my Lord and God gives me life and strength I will continue to fight in this manner, led by His leading and guidance in this spiritual battle. Image result for whole armor of god kjv

“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.”  –  Ephesians 6: 10-18

START YOUR DAY OFF WITH GOD’S WORD!

Today’s Reading: Proverbs 4:1-13 . . . .

“Hear, my children, the instruction of a father, And give attention to know understanding; For I give you good doctrine: Do not forsake my law. When I was my father’s son, Tender and the only one in the sight of my mother, He also taught me, and said to me: “Let your heart retain my words; Keep my commands, and live. Get wisdom! Get understanding! Do not forget, nor turn away from the words of my mouth. Do not forsake her, and she will preserve you; Love her, and she will keep you. Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding. Exalt her, and she will promote you; She will bring you honor, when you embrace her. She will place on your head an ornament of grace; A crown of glory she will deliver to you.” Hear, my son, and receive my sayings, And the years of your life will be many. I have taught you in the way of wisdom; I have led you in right paths. When you walk, your steps will not be hindered, And when you run, you will not stumble. Take firm hold of instruction, do not let go; Keep her, for she is your life.

START YOUR DAY OFF WITH GOD’S WORD!

Today’s Reading: 2 Chronicles 20:18-30 . . . .

“And Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground, and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem bowed before the Lord, worshiping the Lord. Then the Levites of the children of the Kohathites and of the children of the Korahites stood up to praise the Lord God of Israel with voices loud and high. So they rose early in the morning and went out into the Wilderness of Tekoa; and as they went out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, “Hear me, O Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem: Believe in the Lord your God, and you shall be established; believe His prophets, and you shall prosper.” And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed those who should sing to the Lord, and who should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army and were saying: “Praise the Lord, For His mercy endures forever.” Now when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushes against the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; and they were defeated. For the people of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of Mount Seir to utterly kill and destroy them. And when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, they helped to destroy one another. So when Judah came to a place overlooking the wilderness, they looked toward the multitude; and there were their dead bodies, fallen on the earth. No one had escaped. When Jehoshaphat and his people came to take away their spoil, they found among them an abundance of valuables on the dead bodies, and precious jewelry, which they stripped off for themselves, more than they could carry away; and they were three days gathering the spoil because there was so much. And on the fourth day they assembled in the Valley of Berachah, for there they blessed the Lord; therefore the name of that place was called The Valley of Berachah until this day. Then they returned, every man of Judah and Jerusalem, with Jehoshaphat in front of them, to go back to Jerusalem with joy, for the Lord had made them rejoice over their enemies. So they came to Jerusalem, with stringed instruments and harps and trumpets, to the house of the Lord. And the fear of God was on all the kingdoms of those countries when they heard that the Lord had fought against the enemies of Israel. Then the realm of Jehoshaphat was quiet, for his God gave him rest all around.
