    MY QUESTION ABOUT RECOVERY IS . . . .

“My new support group has a workbook and a journal. I’ve never been one to journal and looking through it it involves a lot of writing. I’m not a writer so how can I understand the purpose of what’s required of me? Your group is asking you to do something that you’ve never tried to […]

WHAT GOD’S WORD SAYS ABOUT . . . . LIVING FOR GOD “So then, since Christ suffered physical pain, you must arm yourselves with the same attitude he had, and be ready to suffer, too. For if you have suffered physically for Christ, you have finished with sin. You won’t spend the rest of your […]

A PLEA FOR PURITY AND HOLINESS Image result for purity

Today’s Reading: 1 Thessalonians 4:1-8 . . . .

“Finally then, brethren, we urge and exhort in the Lord Jesus that you should abound more and more, just as you received from us how you ought to walk and to please God; for you know what commandments we gave you through the Lord Jesus. For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality; that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor, not in passion of lust, like the Gentiles who do not know God; that no one should take advantage of and defraud his brother in this matter, because the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also forewarned you and testified. For God did not call us to uncleanness, but in holiness. Therefore he who rejects this does not reject man, but God, who has also given us His Holy Spirit.”

PRESSING THROUGH TOWARD THE HIGHER GOAL! Image result for pressing forward

Today’s Reading: Philippians 3:12-16 . . . .

“Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Therefore let us, as many as are mature, have this mind; and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal even this to you. Nevertheless, to the degree that we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us be of the same mind.”

READ YOUR WORD THIS MORNING?

WE ARE NO LONGER BOUND BUT SET FREE IN CHRIST!

Do we really no what it means to be set free in Christ? Looking at our passage this morning we discover that we are no longer slaves to sin because of Christ’s death He paid on the Cross of Calvary. Christ loved us that much that He gave Himself up for us so that we might be part-takers of His mercy and grace. When that happened, Christ defeated death, with death never again to have reign or dominion over us that we might have life and that more abundant. So are we living in that freedom today? Are we walking in the newness of life as children of the Most High God? The sin in our lives was not meant for us to accept or live in because we don’t know how to overcome it. Christ died for that sin, and we are no longer bound to it! We can rest assured that we are free in Christ in all things! What does that mean and what does that look like? For me, I can walk through this life assured and confident that whatever I may go through in life it is temporary and it doesn’t define me as to who I am. I don’t have to live or settle with the struggles I’ve allowed myself to face daily because that isn’t me anymore. I have a new identity, a purpose in this life, and I trust the God in me (Christ) to walk in that victory! I made the choice to die to sin and live for Christ, to experience true freedom as I consistently seek Him with all of my heart. I have been renewed and transformed in Him, and that’s what I’m living and walking in today!

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.”

2 Corinthians 5:17-19

NO LONGER A SLAVE TO SIN!Image result for set free by Christ

Today’s Reading: Romans 6:15-23 . . . .

“What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Certainly not! Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one’s slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness? But God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered. And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness. I speak in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh. For just as you presented your members as slaves of uncleanness, and of lawlessness leading to more lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves of righteousness for holiness. For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness. What fruit did you have then in the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death. But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

LOOK AT OURSELVES BEFORE JUDGING OTHERS.  Image result for remove the plank from your eye

Today’s Reading: Luke 6:37-42 . . . .

“Judge not, and you shall not be judged. Condemn not, and you shall not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.” And He spoke a parable to them: “Can the blind lead the blind? Will they not both fall into the ditch? A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone who is perfectly trained will be like his teacher. And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not perceive the plank in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me remove the speck that is in your eye,’ when you yourself do not see the plank that is in your own eye? Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck that is in your brother’s eye.

READ YOUR WORD THIS MORNING?

Posted by Men of Redemption on September 25, 2017

ARE WE APPLYING THE WORD OR ARE WE JUST TALKING ABOUT IT?

This morning’s reading was direct and to the point. So many times we often call on the Lord, make our petitions known as He instructs us to do, but when He tells us to do something we don’t follow through or apply His guidance. God says we are like a man who builds his house on a foundation that is unstable, which has no stability. We hear God giving us instruction clearly but we’re not taking that instruction to heart. If we are Christ-followers we ought to do what His Word says, not just call on Him and hear what He says but actually do it! I believe we’ll be very surprised at the results when we actually begin to do what His Word say, and apply that word to our very own lives. Let’s begin to take God’s Word more serious today than we ever have. God is pleased when He knows His people are heeding His instruction and just not using lip service. Let’s be intentional people of God. Stop playing games with the Father and let’s do what our Heavenly Father says to do. His Word is as clear as day! Let’s do it!
