    MY QUESTION ABOUT RECOVERY IS . . . .

“My new support group has a workbook and a journal. I’ve never been one to journal and looking through it it involves a lot of writing. I’m not a writer so how can I understand the purpose of what’s required of me? Your group is asking you to do something that you’ve never tried to […]

WHAT GOD’S WORD SAYS ABOUT . . . . LIVING FOR GOD “So then, since Christ suffered physical pain, you must arm yourselves with the same attitude he had, and be ready to suffer, too. For if you have suffered physically for Christ, you have finished with sin. You won’t spend the rest of your […]

TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL READING . . . .

Posted by Men of Redemption on March 29, 2019

OUR PASSAGE COMES FROM:

JAMES 5:7-12 . . . .

“Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, waiting patiently for it until it receives the early and latter rain. You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand. Do not grumble against one another, brethren, lest you be condemned. Behold, the Judge is standing at the door! My brethren, take the prophets, who spoke in the name of the Lord, as an example of suffering and patience. Indeed we count them blessed who endure. You have heard of the perseverance of Job and seen the end intended by the Lord—that the Lord is very compassionate and merciful. But above all, my brethren, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or with any other oath. But let your “Yes” be “Yes,” and your “No,” “No,” lest you fall into judgment.

RECOVERY REFLECTION: Be patient is not one of most people’s most valuable characteristics as far as our personality go. It takes a lot of understanding, endurance and submission to get out of ourselves and place things, opportunities, and others before ourselves. In recovery that’s one of the main attributes we ought to be working on because when we were in our mess it was the exact opposite-it was all about us! Change is good when patience is incorporated into our lives  b because it continues to show that there are other things in this life that matters.

TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL READING . . . .

Posted by Men of Redemption on March 28, 2019

OUR PASSAGE COMES FOR TODAY:

JOHN 10:1-10 . . . .

“Very truly I tell you Pharisees, anyone who does not enter the sheep pen by the gate, but climbs in by some other way, is a thief and a robber. The one who enters by the gate is the shepherd of the sheep. The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice. But they will never follow a stranger; in fact, they will run away from him because they do not recognize a stranger’s voice.Jesus used this figure of speech, but the Pharisees did not understand what he was telling them. Therefore Jesus said again, “Very truly I tell you, I am the gate for the sheep. All who have come before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep have not listened to them. I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”

RECOVERY REFLECTION: God’s Word describes us as sheep and He as our shepherd. As a shepherd, God knows His sheep and our names because we belong to Him. He knows our comings and goings, how to feed us and watches out for us and over us daily. So with that being said we ought to know His voice when He calls us. Whether we have gone astray, wandered to far from the flock, or act like we don’t hear Him we should know our shepherd’s voice when He calls us. While in recovery we hear many voices telling us this better for us, go in this direction for the help you need, and we also hear that voice that tells us we’re never find freedom so come back to what you really like-sin! That voice is loud and clear and some of us listen to it more that our shepherd. So I encourage you to know the shepherd’s voice and adhere to His calling and instruction always.

WHAT GOD’S WORD SAYS ABOUT IT! – WORDS OF WISDOM

WHAT GOD’S WORD SAYS ABOUT . . . .

FAITH IN THE LORD’S RIGHTEOUSNESS

“In the Lord I put my trust; How can you say to my soul, “Flee as a bird to your mountain”? For look! The wicked bend their bow, they make ready their arrow on the string, that they may shoot secretly at the upright in heart. If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do? The Lord is in His holy temple, the Lord’s throne is in heaven; His eyes behold, His eyelids test the sons of men. The Lord tests the righteous, but the wicked and the one who loves violence His soul hates. Upon the wicked He will rain coals; Fire and brimstone and a burning wind shall be the portion of their cup. For the Lord is righteous, He loves righteousness; His countenance beholds the upright.

PSALM 11:1-7

TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL READING . . . .

Posted by Men of Redemption on March 27, 2019

OUR PASSAGE TODAY COMES FROM:

LUKE 5:27-28 . . . .

“After this, Jesus went out and saw a tax collector by the name of Levi sitting at his tax booth. “Follow me,” Jesus said to him, and Levi got up, left everything and followed him.”

RECOVERY REFLECTION: Two words: Follow Me, and the man Levi, the Tax Collector, just got up, left all he taxes he collected and it was probably a considerable amount because it was tax time. But what was it about Jesus, whom Levi just saw for the first time, actually made this man who was working for the Roman government just stop right where he was and obey Jesus whom he has never seen? I can see how the Lord God, Jesus, looked right into Levi’s eyes, conviction setting in because he dishonest in taking more taxes than he was required to because that what tax collectors did in Jesus’ time. Jesus’s look or stare must have penetrated to the very core of his being and Levi just submitted without incident. Does Jesus have that effect on you like that? He said in His Word that we ought to deny self, pick up our cross and follow Him!

TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL READING . . . .

Posted by Men of Redemption on March 26, 2019

OUR PASSAGE FOR TODAY:

MATTHEW 16:13-20 . . . .

“When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say the Son of Man is?” They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven. And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” Then he ordered his disciples not to tell anyone that he was the Messiah.”

RECOVERY REFLECTION: If Jesus asked you that question how would you answer that? Without attempting to be spiritual, holy, and biblically mature, can you honestly tell the Lord God of all creation the truth? What has Jesus done in your life and for you that would let Him and others know that He is who He says He is? Tough question but that’s what we’re faced with today in our culture that’s seeking an answer about who He is. Do we know enough about Him or have a relationship with Him that any answer we would give convince Him that we know what we’re talking about? Perhaps Peter knew because followed Jesus and witnessed His miracles, saw His word in action, and had a relationship with Him.

WHAT GOD’S WORD SAYS ABOUT IT! – WORDS OF WISDOM

Posted by Men of Redemption on March 25, 2019

WHAT GOD’S WORD SAYS ABOUT . . . .

GOD’S PERFECT KNOWLEDGE OF MAN

“O Lord, You have searched me and known me. You know my sitting down and my rising up;
You understand my thought afar off. You comprehend my path and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways. For there is not a word on my tongue, but behold, O Lord, You know it altogether. You have hedged me behind and before, and laid Your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; It is high, I cannot attain it. Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend into heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there Your hand shall lead me, and Your right hand shall hold me. If I say, “Surely the darkness shall fall on me,” even the night shall be light about me; Indeed, the darkness shall not hide from You, but the night shines as the day; The darkness and the light are both alike to You.”

PSALM 139:1-12
