My Morning Devotional – Making God The Priority

Posted by Men of Redemption on January 5, 2018

MY MORNING DEVOTIONAL  –  GETTING TO KNOW CHRIST INTIMATELY Image result for reading god's word 2018

From The Book of Philippians 3:12-21 . . . .

“Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Therefore let us, as many as are mature, have this mind; and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal even this to you. Nevertheless, to the degree that we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us be of the same mind. Brethren, join in following my example, and note those who so walk, as you have us for a pattern. For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: whose end is destruction, whose god is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame—who set their mind on earthly things. For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself.”

My Daily Devotion – DON’T LEAVE HOME WITHOUT IT!

START YOUR DAY OF WITH GOD’S WORD!

Today’s Reading: Romans 6:1-14 . . . .

“What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it? Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection, knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. For he who has died has been freed from sin. Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over Him. For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts. And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.”

START YOUR DAY OFF WITH GOD’S WORD!

Today’s Reading:

Philippians 3:1-14 . . . .

“Further, my brothers and sisters, rejoice in the Lord! It is no trouble for me to write the same things to you again, and it is a safeguard for you. Watch out for those dogs, those evildoers, those mutilators of the flesh. For it is we who are the circumcision, we who serve God by his Spirit, who boast in Christ Jesus, and who put no confidence in the flesh—though I myself have reasons for such confidence. If someone else thinks they have reasons to put confidence in the flesh, I have more: circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; in regard to the law, a Pharisee; as for zeal, persecuting the church; as for righteousness based on the law, faultless. But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith. I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead. Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

START YOUR DAY OFF WITH GOD’S WORD!

Today’s Reading:

Psalm 103:1-22 . . . .

“Bless the Lord, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies, Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. The Lord executes righteousness And justice for all who are oppressed. He made known His ways to Moses, His acts to the children of Israel. The Lord is merciful and gracious, Slow to anger, and abounding in mercy. He will not always strive with us, Nor will He keep His anger forever. He has not dealt with us according to our sins, Nor punished us according to our iniquities. For as the heavens are high above the earth, So great is His mercy toward those who fear Him; As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us. As a father pities his children, So the Lord pities those who fear Him. For He knows our frame; He remembers that we are dust. As for man, his days are like grass; As a flower of the field, so he flourishes. For the wind passes over it, and it is gone, And its place remembers it no more. But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting On those who fear Him, And His righteousness to children’s children, To such as keep His covenant, And to those who remember His commandments to do them. The Lord has established His throne in heaven, And His kingdom rules over all. Bless the Lord, you His angels, Who excel in strength, who do His word, Heeding the voice of His word. Bless the Lord, all you His hosts, You ministers of His, who do His pleasure. Bless the Lord, all His works, In all places of His dominion. Bless the Lord, O my soul!”

Read Your Word This Morning?

Posted by Men of Redemption on April 21, 2017

IN CHRIST WE ARE NO LONGER SLAVES TO SIN BUT SLAVES TO RIGHTEOUSNESS AND HOLINESS

Are you struggling in areas of your life where you just can’t seem to be free from? Or maybe you having to battle the issues of addictive behaviors and have been for quite some time and  just want to be free from that lifestyle? I know I’ve used words that sound like war-battle, struggle, slaves-and I used those words because when you’re dealing with kinds of issues in life that’s exactly what it is, a war! And if for one minute you even think there’s no truth to that statement you’re allowing yourself to be deceived big time! If we look at our lives today, whatever we love the most in life that’s what we are a slave to. If its money, pleasure, material things, sex, whatever, we are a slave to its every desire. It transforms us, it shapes our mindset, and it leads us down a road spiraling out of control which will eventually lead to destruction, even death. We are blinded by the rewards, the “high” of obtaining it through the process it creates. I know what these things will do because I’ve faced those challenges over the course of my brief life and it had led me down that road, almost to the brink of death. But because of God’s Word, as I read and studied how His love and grace has and is saving me daily, I am no longer a slave to that lifestyle but a slave unto holiness and righteousness. Christ died for my sins that I committed by going to the Cross, shedding His blood and raising from the dead so that I might have life eternal with Him and no longer be bound by sin, by those things that had kept me from living a life free of those behaviors that had ensnared me for years. I am a slave to righteousness in Christ now. I no longer desire those things but desire holiness, peace, the comfort of Christ in safety of His loving arms. I no longer desire the things that made me crave pleasure and more of it. Now, I desire to be conformed in the image of Jesus Christ and the entire process that it takes because it involves seeking Him with my whole heart, mind and soul. I get into His Word daily, and trust Him to do in me what He began before the foundations of the earth were formed-and that’s create me, design me and conform me to be like His Son. And being a slave to righteousness brings hope and desire that cannot be attained by human hands, but only by the hands of Almighty God Himself, Jesus Christ. I’m free, living and walking in that freedom today because I chose the only to be set free from what I was going. I’m a slave for righteousness in Jesus Christ, and that, my friends is true freedom!

Read Your Word This Morning?

WE KNOW GOD BY KEEPING HIS WORD, DOING WHAT HE SAYS.

Okay men and women of God, let’s get real now. As people of the Most High God, the Lord Jesus Christ, we know that God’s Word is our road map of life. The Word of God is filled with promises, instruction and guidelines that will fulfill our lives with purpose, intentionality and abundance. But our Heavenly Father does require His children to know Him, and that comes by getting into His Word and knowing Him intimately, and doing what the Word of God says. We all know that there are so many so-called “Christians” that claim they know the Father but their lives show us different. We don’t see the change, the transformation of heart and the renewing of the mind that comes when we finally understand what a relationship with God means and does. We will do what His Word instructs us to do. We become obedient to His will, desiring to please Him, to live in such a manner that see our hearts and knows we have Him in our hearts and lives. We are doing what His Word tells us and instructs us to do, hands down! But we cannot keep talking about knowing the Father if our live don’t demonstrate it. Normally, the way we lead our lives on a daily basis reveal who we follow, who and what our faith is in. So what do we have to do to make sure we’re doing what we ought to be doing? First, take a long look in the mirror and ask ourselves . . . “Am I really doing what God Word tells me to do? Am I understanding what it is that God desires of me and from me? What am I doing that’s keeping me from doing and following His Word?” I strongly believe when we can honestly answer these questions we will make a conscious decision and start doing the right thing when it comes to adhering to God Word. No, we won’t do or consume everything but we ought to start and trust God in teaching and guiding us by His Holy Spirit because He left the Holy Spirit here for that specific purpose-to lead and guide us, and to bring all things to remembrance that He has taught us. So what are we waiting on? If you’re not doing what the Word tells you to do then His Word says we really don’t know Him. Start knowing Him today by beginning to read His Word and start doing what His Word says.

Today, I Will Trust God to . . . .

STRENGTHEN ME TO SHOW LOVE UNCONDITIONALLY TO OTHERS

On this day Lord God, teach me to show love to others as you have shown your love to me; allow the comfort of knowing the Father’s love on a personal and intimate level resonate in the lives I encounter as this unfolds. Let your lovingkindness engraft the hearts of those who have been hurt by abandonment; let those who have been abused emotionally who refuse to love and be loved again know that being in the arms of a loving God will wash away those feelings, those hurts; let them see in me your love in how I love others, how I love my family and how I love you Father God. I’m trusting you Lord God to use me in helping make a difference in those I work with, those that laugh and cry with, and those that I celebrate with. Strengthen O God to be the exception, to stand out and not conform to love of this world but stand for righteousness and love of my Holy Father because you are love, and you are good.

“Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.”  –  1 Corinthians 13:4-7

Read Your Word This Morning? (Trying To Live A Holy Life)

HOW ARE YOU LIVING BEFORE THE FATHER?

As a child of God, do you find it difficult to live a life acceptable to God? Many Christians do, and the surprising thing about it is that living the Christian life isn’t as difficult as it may seem. I finding out that the problem isn’t primarily the life itself-the problem is God’s chosen people placing themselves under His authority and allowing Him to reign in our lives which includes dying to self, and giving God complete control over all that we do. That would include our thinking, our desires, our hearts, everything! The problem: not very many Christians understand this is what God requires of us if we have chosen to be His children. Just like those of us who have children, they must adhere to our authority and governing of their lives so that they may mature in the leading and guiding of righteousness as we as parents follow Christ. It starts with us, giving up our purpose and surrendering ourselves to God for His purposes. God then leads and guides us into living holy and righteous lives by following and doing His Word. He changes our thinking process from self-dependence to depending upon Him. He changes our hearts from selfish and agenda-motive focus to loving others as we love ourselves. God is about molding and shaping His greatest creation into the very image of His Son, Jesus Christ. So when we choose to live a holy and acceptable life according to God’s Word, we don’t live according to worldly standards, or according to the wisdom and knowledge of what we learned from the systems of this world. We should want to please our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ by being obedient to His Word, doing what His Word instructs us to do, and trusting in the Holy Spirit to guide us and bring us into all truth and understanding. Our lives will display the characteristics of a Christ-center life that genuinely loves and cares for people. Our thoughts become compassionate towards helping and caring for others as Christ did. And if we need guidance from God’s Word to know what some of those characteristics are,  just go to His Word . . . .

“Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.”  –  Philippians 4:8-9

TRUSTING IN THE FAITH THAT YOU HAVE TO BELIEVE GOD

Our faith is important to us because it’s the primary source of our belief system. We have to have faith in something or someone so that we may have the hope and assurance that everything will be alright. We all have faith in something but that is entirely up to the individual and where he or she is spiritually. But as for me, my hope and is in Christ Jesus my Lord and Savior. And I will always place my faith and hope in Him because I know in my heart that He is true, living and full of hope and glory! So I know in my heart when I trust the faith that I have in Him that whatever I desire or hope for I know He will grant it to me if it’s according to His will and He desires it for me. My faith is in His promises that I will have what I believe Him for and He will give it to me. I believe God to do what He says He will do in the areas of healing; in guiding me into all truth and understanding; and in helping me in discernment of the things of God. My faith is key and I strongly believe in trusting God to follow through in everything He says and everything He will do. No matter what my situation is or what I may need at any given moment I know beyond any doubt that the Lord my God is faith and just, and that He will do all that He says He will do, even more so according His will.

My Daily Devotion – (Don’t Leave Home Without It!!)

Posted by Men of Redemption on March 9, 2017

daily-devotionalGET GOD’S WORD INTO YOUR DAY!!

Today’s Reading:

2 Timothy 2:1-13 . . . .

“You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also. You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier. And also if anyone competes in athletics, he is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules. The hardworking farmer must be first to partake of the crops. Consider what I say, and may the Lord give you understanding in all things. Remember that Jesus Christ, of the seed of David, was raised from the dead according to my gospel, for which I suffer trouble as an evildoer, even to the point of chains; but the word of God is not chained. Therefore I endure all things for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. This is a faithful saying: For if we died with Him, We shall also live with Him. If we endure, We shall also reign with Him. If we deny Him, He also will deny us. If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself.
