The Word, with Our Morning Coffee

“And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the Lord. And, behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the Lord; but the Lord was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the Lord was not in the earthquake: And after the earthquake a fire; but the Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice. And it was so, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entering in of the cave. And, behold, there came a voice unto him, and said, What doest thou here, Elijah?” – 1 Kings 19:11-13

When you think of God, how do you view God, as a person or as a power? Many of us have different interpretations of God because of what He has done for us in our very own lives. But also, many of us have the same understanding as Elijah did. When God had Elijah’s attention, He prepared him for an encounter with Himself. But Elijah was looking for God in different aspects of his surroundings. Sometimes we ourselves think, and even believe that God is in the activity of our lives and we call out to Him in those situations. God is, in fact there, but many times He is not the wind, the earthquake, the fire of our lives to show Himself. A lot of times God is that still, small, voice that we chose not to hear in our circumstances or situations because of the enormous fear that it may bring. Our focus is not on God, but the fear of the moment. And that very same fear happened to Elijah later on because of how he thought He saw God. How about you? How do you see or acknowledge God? When God seems to not be there at your time of need, are you fearful, and want to run away as Elijah did? Remember, God is as close to us as our next breath. He’s right there, overseeing everything we do and involve ourselves in. He hasn’t left us. He’s a person who desires complete intimacy in our relationship with Him. We do acknowledge His glory and majesty, and all His power to reign, but we shouldn’t lose focus of His unlimited and unconditional love He has for us. Just like yesterday’s Morning Word, know that He is God, and His love and comfort will be there for us always through whatever we go through in this life, and beyond. He loves us so friends! Have a wonderful day, and allow the peace of God to reign in your hearts always!
